I'm yet to see anyone actually put their name to Newchurch as a top 20 player in any kind of draft order. He's flashy quality, but he's not top five or six out of SA, and there's at least half a dozen WA players who'll go before him and maybe a couple of Tasmanians and two or three Queenslanders and New South Welshman. He's barely top 20, before you even consider who will be coming out of Vic, and there's have to be a dozen players at least from there before Newchurch.I'm very fearful that a bid will come on Newchurch in the top 20. Will ruin a lot of plans
They’ll hold a draft.. it just might not be till mid december or even January..Any risk of draft not being held this year? I have a mate who reckons this is highly likely given the draftees haven’t been playing and the list sizes will be reduced. Admittedly he is a pear supporter so don’t trust him
Perth had a bye.Did McDonald play this weekend in the wafl
I gather the picks will be reset for the points deficit once the season is complete, so the 1st picks for Freo, GWS & Port will all slide down. How do points deficits work when picks are traded? For example, Freo currently has pick 2 and a 265 point deficit which would drop their pick 2 to pick pick 3 (I think). So if a team struck a trade of picks with Freo, would they be trading in pick 2 and Freos points deficit is passed on to their next selection, currently 23 dropping that to 34? Or would the club be trading in Freos pick post points deduction, trading in pick 3?
Look at the three SA lads, plus Sinn, Rachelle and Sonsie.briztoon you have any thoughts on 2021 early prospects to give us hope
I’ve found some above
Looks like Collingwood get a steal in Daicos!
There's been some talk here about taking Thilthorpe and McDonald with our first two picks. McDonald's rise is making things interesting.
From left field, if the club rated those two above McAsey or after a year they feel McAsey is a risk of heading home, would a team be interested in him?
In this scenario we would have taken probably the best two available talls with picks 2 and 3 (assuming Bulldogs have pick 1), if a Victorian team was looking for a tall, Fish might be a pretty good option.
I think my preference is to keep him.
Yeah, I'd expect that to be the case, otherwise Freo would be able to trade a high-value pick that they never had.I gather the picks will be reset for the points deficit once the season is complete, so the 1st picks for Freo, GWS & Port will all slide down.
I'm starting to lean towards grabbing key forwards if we get pick one and two. Just lock that down. Both McDonald and Thilthorpe are forwards, Fish will ultimately be a defender and I have no doubt a damn good one. Back ourselves in to keep him. Would have our Key positions locked up for a decade
I think we may already have a Shuey type that we aren't playing in Shoenberg.I wouldn’t say we need electric pace, but a Luke shuey type midfielder.
Haven't played, not aren't playing.I think we may already have a Shuey type that we aren't playing in Shoenberg.
Depends a bit one what's coming up over the next couple of drafts, but if we grab 2 KPFs this year, we had better hope some mids are are at the pointy end next year. Both McDonald and Thilthorpe are forwards, Fish will ultimately be a defender and I have no doubt a damn good one. Back ourselves in to keep him. Would have our Key positions locked up for a decade
What's wrong with Fogarty for us to prioritise taking 2 forwards?I'm starting to lean towards grabbing key forwards if we get pick one and two. Just lock that down.
KPP with 1 and 2 and best Mid available at 9(Hollands could slide with his ACL)Depends a bit one what's coming up over the next couple of drafts, but if we grab 2 KPFs this year, we had better hope some mids are are at the pointy end next year.
Fog, McAsey, Doedee, Thilthorpe and McDonald should seet us up pretty well.
We'd then need another 2 or 3 top 5 mids and another couple of first rd mids as well.
Why do we need 2 more key position players as a priority over our midfield?KPP with 1 and 2 and best Mid available at 9(Hollands could slide with his ACL)
Borlase will end up being a Full Back I think There is definitely a spot on our list for him.
Surely we don't take all KPPs with our early picks this year. Would be madness given the state of the midfield
Cant we lock in Horne now? I mean is there any possibility at all that any other club will beat us to pick 1, 2021?
Doubt Schoenberg will ever have anything like Shuey's endurance...I think we may already have a Shuey type that we aren't playing in Shoenberg.
Yes, there is plenty of possibility, any of the current bottom 6 could bottom out harder than us next season.
Because rebuilds aren’t done in one trade and draft period. Why do we need 2 more key position players as a priority over our midfield?
Agreed, Tigers just won the flag with Lynch/Reiwoldt as their 2 key forwards. Tilthorpe and Fog can play similar roles for us moving forward. Put some quality small and mid sized forwards around them and that is the forward line sorted. What's wrong with Fogarty for us to prioritise taking 2 forwards?
Surely we take Tilthorpe & quality midfielders.
