This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

Pick 4 is with Hawthorn? How is that relevant. If you mean Sydney’s pick 3 - literally no one thinks that’s possible. That’s more than we paid for Hogan 2 years ago.

Hogan and our first for pick 3? Use that to draft Logan Macdonald? Puts Hogan at pick 23 in value give or take.

Does our deficit stick to the pick or to the club and shift to the traded pick?

Do people feel that Melbourne regret surrounding Hogan with players like Sylvia and Watts when he was drafted?

Do people then feel that we may live to regret surrounding players like Young and Serong with leaders/players like Hogan?

I’m sure both Melbourne and Fremantle know far more than we ever will and for that reason I trust the decision the club makes.

I really want a fit a firing Hogan but I want a healthy player culture more.

It's a good point, I think we're still learning from a similar mistake made recently. I wonder what genius put Balic with Bennell.

The deficit has already been made so IF we were able to get pick 3, it would stay at pick 3.

Although I love your reasoning - the pick value is irrelevant when you're moving up with your first-round picks. We had to pay a second-rounder to move from 10- 8 last year; and GWS had to pay a future 1st rounder to move from pick 6 to 4 last year. If we were to move from pick 10 to 3 - we would have to give up a lot more than Hogan.

So they're "surrounding" them with Hogan? Is he very large and billowing or just super duper quick like the Flash?

Or are you suggesting there's more than one (I think for a "culture" you need more than one, no?)? If so, do tell, who else?

Anyone hear Stephen silvagni interviewed on 6pr re cripps? Mate reckons he was really unsure what to say, but eventually came out with “I think he will come home next year if blues don’t make the 8”. Mate said it was like he knew a lot more. prpl_jss
You don’t go around saying you want to finish your career at another club when you have a couple years ahead of you at the current one.

What’s his true value? Realistically.
It’s like the stock market.

A company share price goes up and down but the their is a true value according to profit, assets and debt levels.

Sell when the market is low, then you lose value.

Trade Hogan now we get very little.

His true value is a lot higher.

I would hold my chips.

I don’t disagree about his trade value being low right now, and at face value you are correct in what you are saying about keeping him.
But if he’s doing harm to the fabric of the squad and the team ethic Jlo is trying to build, then he has to go.
We don’t know, but it really does sound like something like that is at play here because it doesn’t make sense.

A lot of it doesn’t make sense.

First being the cap issues, which is a total lie.

Second, it is not in interest of the club to use the media to lower the price for Hogan. When you tell the world you want to shop a player around, you lose hand.

Third, club has only said that they would to talk to Hogan first. Which Hasn’t happen.

Fourth. Colin Young his Manager plays games in the media and maybe Hogan doesnt want to stay. Young is trying to lower his trade price to get a deal done.

Liam Baker goes ok

And from Lake Grace like Fyfe, so there must be some connection. Both also went to Aquinas, although I know some years apart

I wonder whether all this cap clearing frenzy is with an eye on a bigger fish.

Hagdorn seems totally obsessed with running an agenda that we have bigger salary cap issues than the Magpies and West Coast put together.

I’ve always felt the real run at Cripps is when he is out of contract as a free agent in 2021.

West Coast will be in the hunt for him in 2021 with retirees.
We have the opportunity to move things this year, now! Freo needs to make the move now or risk Eagles being a 50% chance to get him , whereas this year he is no chance as they would be tight with salary.

Too much cost and Carlton won’t trade him. I also don’t believe he wants to leave his contract early and hasn’t made up his mind on his next contract. An underwhelming Carlton season and he will be on his way.

I don’t like sell the farm trades.

So we need to beat Carlton at all costs to show him we are on the up and stifle their chances of finals !
Not to mention the justice we deserve for the Round 12 Rort 🤬
Would be perfect timing to replace Mundy and move Fyfe forward in 2021 .

I'd like him in the team , seems like a good bloke and solid WA country boy with a big smile . Would fit well in the team .

I think the other players in our squad far outweigh Hogan's influence on players like Young and Serong. I don't think the term 'surrounding' can be applied to one player.
I also think the perception that Hogan is a negative influence is trolling, sure he's got some personal issues but his training and application at the club and around teammates has never been questioned.

Errr... we don't know what he is like around the club. He may or may not be influencing the young players.

He is definitely doing something substantial that somebody doesn't like.

You're right Colin Young plays games with the media, except Jesse's Manager is Jason Dover.

I don't think we're the ones shopping Jesse around. I think the noise coming from other clubs is either BS or it's coming from Jesse's side. Multiple people from the club have gone on record and said, we need to speak with Jesse and his management before any decisions are made.

Whatever the truth is, we'll find out more in a few days.

i agree i feel we are moving Hogan on to get Cripps next year

IMO we are 100% shopping Hogan around, we have said nothing to suggest we aren't. Don't see what Jesse has to gain from basically bad mouthing himself in the media, he has a year to run with a trigger clause at Freo. That is his best bet for a big pay day, not going to a club that will get him cheap. I also can't see other clubs making this up in the hope Freo then turn around and trade him for peanuts, that makes no sense either as we could easily come out and say "we have not had any contact with clubs regarding Hogan".

Classic hackdorn

Freo have had the ‘chat’ and both parties have agreed to look elsewhere

Apparently we will be happy to pay his base salary (300k) and the club he goes to will pay the bonus incentives (goals / games)

Also said Walters looking elsewhere because we won’t give him 3 years, only 2

This part specifically i would not be surprised if is true, i get the feeling theres something to play out here.

I'm really not opposed to trading him either if it results in a strong outcome like we have got in recent deals. (not the Hogan deal :( )

This thread really is a cancer to read this year. Can someone just wake me up when December ends?

And somehow thinks we need to get rid of Hogan to give Mundy a deal, so we have not one other cent in our salary cap?
