Yep, while we are punting Walters let's trade out Mundy and Fyfe as well.

Nothing would provide confidence to our young playing group that they will be honoured by the club late in their careers like trading out guys who have stuck with the club through thick and thin so we can get some shiny new draft picks.

Let's go full Melbourne.

That would hurt...a lot...

I hear ya, but the reality is that he will be 30 when Round 1 kicks off so if we get a god-father offer for him now that's going to get us McDonald we should and i think would do it without further consideration.

You can not watch Dale Kickett and Roger Hayden at the Doig and then want to trade Walters out.

I get we all go crazy at trade time each year but smack some sense into yourself if you were considering it.

You genuinely wouldn't do it if we could get 2 in return?

It’s like the stock market.

A company share price goes up and down but the their is a true value according to profit, assets and debt levels.

Sell when the market is low, then you lose value.

Trade Hogan now we get very little.

His true value is a lot higher.

I would hold my chips.
I understand the stock market only too well. I once lost a significant amount of money trading options on the XJO when the arse dropped out of it in about 2003/4 (have blocked the exact details from my memory).

Jesse is definitely a hold right now.

It's not really analogous though. Shares don't directly influence others shares. They also aren't people which are far more complicated.

I get the feeling that the playing group want him gone. Reckon we'll be lucky to get a 3rd rounder for him.

Ryan Daniels said this at the start of the year on his podcast that the players were sick of him.

Nope. I think he's had a tough year but like Fyfe and Mundy he is so critical to the development of our youngsters - especially the indigenous lads.
Not only that, we are potentially closer than you think to a tilt and you need as much top end you can get.

He's also heart and soul, you can't trade blokes like that. Feels like standard contract posturing that leads to an extra year or 100k.

Did we ever find out if Sonny went to the Doig?
Yes he did. Heaps of pics of him with Kickett and Hayden etc. Stephen Hill featured a bit as well.

Walters is contracted for another two seasons already, if he wants another year on top of that and will get it elsewhere then it's a big deal. He will be nearly 32 when his current contract with us ends.

If a club like North have a million a year for him for three years and he is contracted for two seasons then we will get their first pick for him straight up.

If there is massive money for him on the table then he should look after his family and get it. If his manager thinks that $500,000 is going to open up next season and wants Walters to extend for a year with an immediate cash injection in 2021 of that previously Hogan cash then good play for him.

If he leaves for money then it's good for his family, but he will be a mercenary forever more and his reputation with Freo should reflect that.

Classic hackdorn

Freo have had the ‘chat’ and both parties have agreed to look elsewhere

Apparently we will be happy to pay his base salary (300k) and the club he goes to will pay the bonus incentives (goals / games)

Also said Walters looking elsewhere because we won’t give him 3 years, only 2

Same guy who said Hogan wouldn't play another game.

I'm starting to think Freo are going after a big fish. That's where the "salary cap issue" story gets momentum. We are making room for someone.

It's also Freo policy not to feed the beast, hence Bell doesn't come out and quash an Hackdorn, Hardie BS.

Thats the only way i swallow us trading Hogan, if its part of a bigger play that lands us someone significant.
