Having a go at drafting private school boys???

And the fact that you could pretty much compile a list like that for every recruiter?

If the poster is a private school boy conspiracy theorist they are a goose, for people who look simply at who we recruited and if they were any good, a list of hits and misses is all you need.

It's a lot easier to pick out the players that he should've drafted years after the draft isn't it? The point is, every recruiter passed on these players. If SOS should've held onto another 2nd round pick in 2017 draft then we wouldn't have got Marchbank.

The 2nd rounder he did have he drafted TDK...

Of course it’s easy, that’s how you judge, by looking back and of course you don’t get them all right and everyone is able to sit back , judge and decide if they see a pattern.

The difference is, those players he delisted had already proven they weren't working for Carlton... the ones he brought in all had potential to lift or just be stop gaps with older bodies to let the kids mature.

This is where my frustration lies with SOS’s time at the club, I agree the players he delisted had proved or had mostly proved they weren’t working for Carlton, I think he made a mistake on Holman but as you said, you don’t get everything right. My issue is bringing in players that he would have or should have known were not up to it, instead of giving the state leagues and the rookie draft the time of day.

Players like Sumner, Phillips (who was so injury prone at the Giants and us), Gorringe, Smedts, Picket, Bugg, Palmer, Shaw, Mullett, Fasolo, O”Shea, Lobbe and Silvagni, they had all proved what they were and it’s my opinion SOS has a weak spot for players who were highly talented youngsters who failed to deliver on their talent.

We have seen over a few years now that there is players in the state leagues who are good and are desperate for a chance who would have been a lot better for us given the chance.

Point is, would we have been better off had we kept the players SOS delisted vs the duds he brought in? To me, it's a pointless argument. They all cost next to nothing and none of them would have made a difference anyway...

No I don’t think so, I agree with you, my point is not who SOS got rid of, but who he brought in, my point is, there is just too many misses to be bad luck, to me it was poor recruiting and a poor strategy. You said every recruiter would be similiar, I don’t think that’s true, I’m not going to go through the records but I’d be pretty surprised if you found any recruiter in the same period as SOS had a list as large as his of players that were busts or had already been delisted.

I know Macreadie has had injuries but who steps up to play defence for us if Weitering or Jones gets injured.............hang onto him I would say, unless he is completely lame as far as his injuries go...........

Levi, Mitch McGovern and probably a heap of DFA available that are superior to Macreadie.

Yeah because he was fixing the sh*t list he inherited in 2015...

We are a below average team because our recruiting and list management was below average... The list strategy largely hasn't worked. hopefully, this recruiter / LM will get us some players.

Do you know how rebuilds work?

rebuild is a footy cliche slogan designed to lower the fans / members expectations and give them hope that the team will succeed .... SOS declared a 5 year rebuild at the beginning of season 2015 to finish 11th on the ladder in 2020 ...

Still waiting for you to tell me who he should've drafted with all those late picks and rookie selections...

Oh and for you to tell me who the best list manager over the past 5 years is...

Respectfully, are you posting with the advantage of a banned word in this thread (starts with 'H')?

CARLTON livewire Zac Fisher has inked a new two-year contract extension, committing his future to the Club.

Fisher will continue to excite the Carlton faithful until at least the end of the 2023 season.

The 22-year-old still had a year to run on his existing deal but did not hesitate to sign on to help the football club earn success in the coming seasons.

Granted there are 12 clubs still to really roll through their lists when it comes to DFAs, but so far, you're looking at a speculative call on Durdin or Daw.
