Don’t get why everyone is so down on Oscar Mc, he was very good in 2018 when dees had there best year and he’s been pushed out by May who is one of the best defenders in the comp. McDonald would be a huge upgrade on any of the KPD we have lost this off season and he’s only 24. I’d take him every day of the week this year, particularly as we need to play finals and seasoned bodies will be important in this push.
Not sure he was that good. Finished 12th in their best & f that year. Fair enough that his job would be to play 2's and be ready if Jones, Weiters or Levi were injured. There would be melts galore if he regularly had to play seniors.

Ben McKay wasn’t/isn’t coming to sit behind Jones until 2023. He’d be on overs at North and will be a key pillar of their backline.

Sam De Koning fits that transition better if we are looking at the brothers. I can’t imagine him coming cheap though.

Fk interchange rotations are now cut to 75 in 2021, down from 90.

Been having discussions in this thread today about the importance of endurance...well it just became even more important.
Stack your team full of good runners and you can grind down less fit teams and pretty much win games just from abusing that advantage. If we're one of the teams carrying unfit players especially in the midfield, I don't think we'll do well.

Makes it paramount we make running power a key trait in our new recruits since the lawmakers keep wanting to reduce the interchange rotations to intentially create fatigue and more open play. It plays into the hands of the Richmond model where a team full of strong runners has been a big key to their 3 premierships.

Ben is not coming, why would he? He’ll be a first selected defender each week and get good coin. We offer him, a bench spot at best, a few games if others are injured more realistically and a regular game in the 2s.

Draft one or pick up a DFA for backline depth. Club will know who. I don’t think they delist McCreadie without a plan.

It has to be Oscar McDonald unless Austin has identified a mature body in the state leagues. Don’t think we’d take the punt on Daw.

Saw one FB group a week or so ago with two posters claiming itk that Ben Silvagni would be rookied. Not claiming any truth, but wondering how this would be received with all of the water under the bridge?

I'm not sure where HARKER got Arr0w saying it'll come down to Fogarty Vs Gibbons.

Arr0w didn't question Fogarty's selection, if it eventuates.

He just stated that Gibbons would be selected, if healthy.

The only way Arr0w loses a bet is if Gibbons isn't selected and Fogarty is.

If both are selected then Arr0w is right in what he said - Gibbons was selected.

I can see a clear path where both are selected and for very different roles.
Kemp won't take gibbons role -- gibbons role won't keep kemp out of the side ..100% agree .. neither might play fit or not -- but not because one is keeping the other out ..

Wouldn’t be comfortable going into a season with BSOS next in line. Was still very raw even more so than Macreadie.

If we think he’s still worth persisting with I’d hope we’d see past the name anyway.

If we had any intention to keep BSOS around next year, I reckon we would have announced it at the time of his delisting. As we did with Kennedy today.

I'd say he's done.

Good, thoughtful, call.

However, perhaps there is consideration for him to be in the VFL team and not Carlton-listed.

Or he simply replaces Jones immediately?

Just means fwds and backs won't need to be interchanged as often, some won't be. Good to see fwds who kick a goal not run off the ground because 'InTErChAnGE'

I hate the run off the ground after a goal thing. Any chance the player might be pumped up and do more good things, or even kick another goal ffs.

Wasn’t one of his biggest knocks his kicking, and a penchant to kick to the oppo?

That won't be happening unless Jones falls off a cliff in 2021, which is probably unlikely unless he goes bushwalking with Charlie.
