If i went to the footy, there would be maybe 6 people behind me who could sneeze their spit at me , a couple either side. Maybe someone in front would miss their elbow and sneeze at me. So that would be ....what? 15 people. The same 15 would be there for the whole game. ( who in their right mind would go to the footy if they were sneezing at the current time )?

If i commuted to the City by train, i'd get crammed into a carriage in confined space with 30 people real close to me. On the way home it be a different 30.
By the end of the week i might have been exposed to 300 different people.

I'm happy if they cancel the footy but only if they cancel everything that carries such risk. Otherwise its just grandstanding.

It will be more about players. It sounds like the GP teams decided not to race. The AGP organisers just went along with it. If a few players get it then they will probably decide to suspend the comp. Clubs, AFL and government will want it to at least play. AFLPA won't if there are risks.

Politics in F1 are pretty complicated and the teams as a united force are pretty powerful.
As soon as the teams said they wanted it stopped , i knew Little was talking crap.

That makes sense Gringo. But if its about players why no crowd? Surely there is plenty of segregation between crowd and players at the AFL?

No crowd is a public health response. Stopping games from playing to empty stadiums is a player health response.

Sorry George, the AFL are not lawmakers, and I signed with the STKFC as a member not the AFL.

The AFL cant decide shit if the T&C's constitute a breach of relevant consumer statute legislation.

It won't get to that though. My travel company just amended terms where any money already paid can be carried over to other trips for 18 months.

The AFL clubs will look after their supporters in a similar manner somehow.
Hope so mate. Half cocked so wont debate it any further. Hope it works out for the best.

Terms and conditions don't mean shit when it goes against Australian Consumer Law.

exactly. i'm with Joff on this. i wonder what would happen if he called the bank and stated the money was taken unlawfully.

not a lot the club can do. they can't take peoples money and deliver SFA.

one option they could have is to offer kayo memberships, then send opposition fans to their home to abuse them, just to make sure it feels like the real thing :tearsofjoy:

VISA/MC would go to the Saints with a please explain, they would respond with the agreement/contract proving it was an authorised transaction, you would end up liable for a fee from your financial institution and/or card provider.

With the PM advising to cancel all non essential gatherings over 500 people, it is looking like at the very least an empty stadium season opening is likely.

Again, terms and conditions of contracts don’t mean shit when they contravene Australian law.

The contract is for a seat and a live game I can attend 11 times a season.

Quite simply they need to supply the product regardless of unlawful T's and C's.

They need to refund the amount they do not provide, be that one or 11 home games.

The question was if the membership holder went to their bank and disputed the charge, so I detailed exactly what would happen if you did.

What a sh/tstorm this is turning out to be . Starting to freak out at the thought of not going to a game this year .
Even more so the thought of it being canceled altogether and not even having no crowd games.
Players are out there in the community buying milk , coffees , petrol like anybody else .
as soon as they’re diagnosed their whole team is quarantined and so on and so on ...........

Just like shops who put an expiry date on gift vouchers. It’s completely illegal but a lot of people don’t realise it. Really grinds my gears.

Where’s Ross Lyon‘s bubble when you really need it? 😳

I have paid up as a SC member with reserved seats for 31 years.
They dont put on the show they need to refund, otherwise I will review my membership going forward.

They need to produce the product I have paid for i.e 11 home games. Their T's and C's are invalid.
The club will do what the afl abd the govt wants them to do.

If the afl say refund the saints will follow. Its not the club fault.

Support the club

More stressful for me through my dickheadness. My wife is studying and told me not to spend money unnecessarily. We went to country and argued about driving the family car on dirt roads being bad for tires. I cracked the shits and bought a Subaru for myself without telling her. There goes my emergency fund to prop my business up in bad times.....just as bad times hits. Didn't even show she was pissed off and I had to act all like I wasn't being petty and that I thought I'd told her. I'm already bored of the car too.
Thats a very sad state of affairs.

Hope your wife was not too pissed off. I wouldve been.

She psyched me out by not reacting, I only did it to be petty. She messed with my head too effectively, she knows I would have justified it to myself, this way I'm left to wallow in my own dumb actions. I have to give it to her, she knows me better than I do.

Double down go and by a motor bike tomorrow, dont let her win

Grab yourself a boat as well, you seem like a good bloke you deserve it

My guess is the AFL will underwrite any loss incurred by the clubs. They won't alienate the public on this one by making the average punter lose out.

Either they refund all or part of memberships this year, or offer the same membership next year for free / discount. The AFL then reimburse the club for their loss.

Afterall there's one entity in all this with the cash to cover it, and it ain't Joe Citizen
