Going to be a miracle if we hit our 50k this season after all.
How many people are going to rush to buy new memberships now when they’re talking about closing the stadia to fans?

Virus is going to stop this in its tracks. I paid up about a week ago. Probably wouldn’t today.

First time in a long time that the club is doing everything right off the field. Maybe this is a year that being a paid up member won't get you into games but it may ensure the club's survival. Glad that you've signed up and hopefully we get that record membership. We are going to need every dollar this year.

I bought a membership for my mum yesterday. Guy on the phone said we're at 42,580.

Hopefully enough people see it as supporting their club rather than just a form of entry into games.
yep that’s how I will see it as shattered as I ll be if I can’t go to games . I class myself as someone in the passionate class of supporter. But you’d have to expect that there would be plenty of supporters who would like their money back .
Some would even demand it back id imagine no matter which club they support or how it effects their bottom line .
Unfortunately our club doesn’t have 70 mill sitting in the bank like the pokie hawks or Collingwood.
I’m an AFL member but still buy a home and away membership anyway so definitely will see it as a donation.

I have paid up as a SC member with reserved seats for 31 years.
They dont put on the show they need to refund, otherwise I will review my membership going forward.

They need to produce the product I have paid for i.e 11 home games. Their T's and C's are invalid.

Can't hold the club to ransom over something they have no control over.

I see it as a donation that gives me something for free....possibly something that's more commitment than enjoyment anyway. I was actually looking forward to this season though.

If games play without crowds perhaps the afl needs to pay for season access to Kayo or something, they could negotiate something with Kayo so that hopefully Kayo get more long term subscribers and people get to watch without bankrupting the clubs or competition.

I admire your commitment, however if a refund is asked for it should be given.

Not to ransom. An event is cancelled, a refund is due.
They provide entertainment, they dont provide what I have purchased, I an entitled to refund.
Not according to the terms and conditions unfortunately. No refunds for postponed or cancelled games.

Think you might be disappointed with what you're 'entitled' to if that's what you believe.

But like I said, I hope for the club's sake the fickle among us are in the minority.

Easy, I pay monthly. I can just cancel the payment.

Just because T&C's say something, doesn't make it legal. Check Corps Law for details.

A business just can't sell a product, not deliver, and keep the money.

And why is it fickle to demand the product you have purchased? So you reckon if you buy a product online, it isn't delivered and the vendor says bad luck, no refunds, that's OK?
Got a bridge I will sell you in that case.

Cancelling the payment is different to a refund, though. The amount you have already paid wouldn't be refundable. I mean, it sucks, but it's in the terms and conditions of the contract you signed.

Read the Corps Law. It doesn't make it legal ans if they go down that route, They will be two memberships down next year.

I pay enough as an MCC member. I find it amazing you think it is fine to take money, not deliver the product and not refund the money taken for it.
Let the AFL take the hit.

I would think your seat might be able to be refunded. If you're paying for a booked seat that doesn't get provided you are probs entitled to a refund. The club membership is probably covered by the T&Cs.

That's OK, I have read the corps law, I doubt it gets approved as it sets a ridiculously bad precedent, aside from the obvious fact you signed an agreement that layed out what would happen in the event of a postponed, cancelled or rescheduled game.

Just stating facts in that you signed the terms.

When you take the emotion out of it, there's not much you can do. All power to you if you try.

A different thing, and depending how you go about it may not necessarily remove the authority to debit, so be mindful of that.

Who knows, at the end of the day, clubs and possibly the AFL will voluntarily take action regarding reimbursing paid up members even if they don't necessarily have to. Far too early to tell how this might all play out.

Depends what you define as a product. Your example of purchasing an item that doesn't arrive is not equivalent.
You can sell me access to your bridge at specified times if you want, but if it falls down before I get there that's another story.
