Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

So - hypothetically, what would we want IF any of these players were to be traded?

Wingard? He could turn GWS into a genuine contender. Pick 13 plus some upgrades if we need to pay part of his salary.

Mitchell? If he wants to go to a contender, then pick 7 from Richmond would be the best outcome. If he was willing to go to Gold Coast then we ask for pick 3. He is a much better player than Lachie Weller.

If we dump these guys for 2nd rounders I would be disappointed... unless we land some really big fish as FA's next season. This can never be guaranteed in the AFL world.
It’s not a fire sale mate. I think this is just media hype up anyway. It would need to benefit us for anything to happen

Better deal for Carlton than i though. I assumed 25 would be gone. Saves them slight on the overpay that is Saad

it's still pretty expensive though. It's probably about fair value, but still not something we should really have entertained (seeing as we would 100% have to give up pick 5 for him)

Sam Edmund has been the definition of darts at the dartboard this trade period.
Sam Edmund has gotten almost every single thing wrong over the past 2 years… It is staggering he doesn’t get as much hate as some other journos. I guess it’s because he comes across okay?

Legit has awful awful sources or is making stuff up. Either way I ignore 99% of his reports now

I'm confused how it works cos of all the lockdowns

do these blokes just like sit at home writing random shit and browsing BigFooty for leads?

If all the deals get done too early, the people on Trade Radio will have to start speculating on what Max Gawn would be worth - IF he was on the market.
Or what Tony Lockett would be worth - IF he was in his prime now and changing clubs?
Or what Ty Vickery may have been worth - IF he was any good.
Or what Kevin Sheedy would do - IF Mitchell White wanted a trade and IF West Coast demanded Sheedy's jacket?

Agree 100%, very happy to take our pick 5 to the draft.

We need every pick we can get

Plenty of people work inside clubs, player agents have reasons to get certain information out as they position their players for bigger paydays and so on.

I imagine most of the stories come from good relationships with those parties, with a few greased palms along the way. Most of a footy journalists job would be on their mobile. They definitely prowl BigFooty too though, because we have suckers giving out solid gold mail for free.

Well was wrong about cerra, but blues must be confident throwing two top 10 picks on just good players.

think it will hurt them for years

yeah for sure, but this is not a normal trade week. Isn't everyone at home? I'm just thinking about how weird it would be to just sit at a desk in your trackies waiting for your source to call you, tweet it without fact-checking, and then think 'nice. Job done'

In reality, Cerra is about the player you'd want from a pick 6.

We love the unknown and the possibility of selecting an out and out superstar, but there's also the flip side where you could pick up someone who never reaches their potential - Carlton have sacrificed a potential few years of service for a player that they know exactly what they're getting from.

When you mention should have multiple later picks (which comes more easily too) instead of upgrading Pick 5 (no one happy to do it), you get laughed at. Isn't Brodie Top 10 players, Mcpherson rookie elevation.
You are suggesting McPherson is better player, I have not watched either closely.
I'm not suggesting he's better, MacPherson just suits our needs more atm being a pressure forward.

They’re better off trading for good AFL players rather than drafting ok VFL players. When you have no faith in your recruitment/development there’s not much choice

It would be a really bad move if Wingard was traded after what we gave up for him.
What we gave up is irrelevant. That's history. The only relevant thing is what is better for us moving forward.

* I would like to keep Wingard and would prefer to trade other senior players. But it all comes down to the price.

What we paid for him doesn’t really come in to consideration.

New coach, new strategy, he has to think about where he wants his team to be in three years time.
That being said I don’t think Wingard is going anywhere unless we get an offer that can’t be refused.

i think we need some players like him to pull people to games. Some think he won’t play well into his 30’s so I understand why his name comes up. But I think he can spend several seasons in a forward pocket and extend his career into our premiership window.
