Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

We should be as active as freo .
It all starts if a player leaves...Cerra pulled the pin so they have cap space and trade compensation so they get to cash in....same as bombers last year with Daniher, Saad and Fantasia ..If Tom Mitchell said "I'm out" and teams can after him, we'd be busy too.

Motflop got a first round compo...

I'm not phased as to whether we get anything for TOB, for us the biggest gain is turning over a new leaf and trying new things. But a little consistency in the FA rules wouldn't be a terrible thing...

It is bullshit. Like o'brien is a best 22 player. Fringe players get compo for some clubs...
Going back all of Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Alex Fasolo and Rory Atkins and good 3rd rounders or late seconds (Atkins). Even Chol got a pick.

I’m not surprised we got stooged, just disappointed

Hewitt was offered a meaningless contract by the Swans, who were happy to walk him, they get a round two compo and we get jack...how is this fair.

Hewitt got a four year deal. Timmy got two years.

To the above post, Atkins got five years (500k a year, staggering). Chol four years. Ellis-Yeoman four years.

There should be no compensation at all for any free agent movement. The whole system is stupid. If a player has served their time and a club doesn’t do or want to do enough to keep them, then they move clubs and there’s no compo. The AFL just makes it more complicated than it needs to be.
Without compo the AFL fear that players would just leave for top clubs and lowly clubs get nowhere.

Personally I don't care, but none of those guys should have got it either.... It's weird precedent they set.

No way Timmy is in the bottom 30% of contracts so they have broken away from there own release a couple of years ago.

But AFL. Nuff said.

The irony that Timmy left for a top club while us a bottom club got nothing.

Not worth getting to worked up about because it won't effect us in the long term. Just annoying.

According to the AFL deal length doesn’t matter, see Daniher getting a first rounder with only a 3 year contract.

Just the way the AFL rolls

As I replied above, I think contract length clearly matters.

In respect of Daniher, the Bombers forced (with threat of matching) the Lions to pony up a pretty significant salary (700-750 a year from memory?).

Timmy received two years at a side with massive cap issues coming at the end of 2022. I doubt he'd be on anything above 300k per year.

There is really nothing to get upset about here, or suggest we have been screwed over. Two years at under 300k a year isn't really something you should expect compo for.

It's a bit annoying but facts matter. It's only a 2 year deal; probably isn't a big one; he's never finished high in B&F and turns 28 next year. I thought end of 3rd would be fair but no compo isn't a shock. The contract is probably very modest. I couldn't imagine a grand final side paying big dollars for TOB.

Lost TOB for no compo and re-signed howe. Missed some good deals on pick trades. Our only win is turning down a clearly ridiculous request on ladhams.

We’re battling so far while other clubs are making moves.

Carlton in the last 5 years have got in

Martin 700k $800 000
McGovern 650k $800 000
Saad 650k $850 000
Williams 700k $950 000
Cerra 700k $750 000

If we are patient enough and our list looks enticing we will have our day again and be ready to go bang.

Martin $800 000
McGovern $800 000
Saad $800 000
Williams $950 000
Cerra $800 000

Wait are some of you only just learning how ridiculous the entire compo pick concept is?

At the end of the day we lost someone we didn’t really want to keep, who isn’t going to be a part of our next flag. Stealing a half okay pick would have been nice but it’s honestly not that surprising.

Wish him the best at the Dogs
