Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

To GWS he must be

They have a team of top 5 picks in that midfield. What they need is a Toby Greene type who doesn't miss every 3rd week and crucial games because he is a chump.

Wingard makes them a genuine premiership contender for the next 3 years pick 2 doesn't do that
No but after those three years pick 2 would then potentially keep the window open. No one would of thought Luke Jackson would of had Melbourne in the premiership window this quickly when he was drafted either. Chad goes in they are contenders now, if he doesn’t maybe their window is open longer. They want Mac Andrew so they won’t be giving up 2 without getting 5 back

Then they don't get the Chad and can take Mac Andrew with pick 2.

They only want Chad. They want the Hill replacement. This came from them, not us.

The whole Hill replacement thing makes me laugh, as though Hill and Wingard's output is anywhere near the same. They could probably find an upgrade on Hill with their pick 13.

JOM and 21 > Port for Ladhams and 16
16 + Future First > Adelaide for Pick 4
5 + Chad > GWS for Pick 2 and 13
Gunston > Melbourne for Pick 17

Probably some salary cap and later picks flying around as well. Adelaide probably least happy about this although if they cant get JHF this year it does give them potentially two top-5 picks next year to go hard at Rankine and / or Lukosius next year whilst still having access to someone like Roberts in the first round this year.

We end up with 2, 4, 13, 17 and 24 which translates to something like Callaghan, Ward, Goater, Wanganeen-Milera and Bazzo.

I wouldn't say it's just Hill. Giants run the risk of going backwards. They have lost Cameron, Finlayson and now Hill in last couple years. That's a lot of their forward line. Greene will miss the first 5 weeks next year. If they see themselves in the window (and they should), Wingard makes a lot of sense for them as a mid/forward. The thing about Wingard is that he is icing, not cake. The Giants have the cake; we don't. It's a good fit for both clubs. I just doubt Chad will agree to it.

I completely disagree that Wingard is icing and not cake, he was involved in 1/3rd of our scoring last year. When he was in the middle he was what drove us to win games.

I just don't see it getting done. Chad seems super invested now in the club and looking from the outside He seems very introverted as a person . It would of taken alot to make the move from Adelaide , he always talks about how close he is with his family and mental health. I want the club to be ruthless and make some moves but I don't want it to become a messy situation.

Would do Wingard (paying wage) + 5 for 2, 13 in a heartbeat. Callaghan seems to be rated significantly higher than a Ward/Hobbs etc. we'd get at 5.

Like other posters have said, not sure Wingard is keen to leave but if the Giants were to offer him 3-4 year deal it could get done.

I doubt Wingard will agree to the move. But, we should absolutely be hoping that he does.

We are finally embarking on an a rebuild. Sam is trying to be aggressive with it. Chad will be 29 in July next year.

It might suck to hear, but it's really not about 2022 or even 2023 for us.

It's not about making a final, it's about creating a list that can contend for a flag over a sustained period.

The harsh reality is that Chad is highly unlikely to be part of that at Hawthorn.

Curious, what are your thoughts on Wingard? What is his value?
I think he's worth around the 15-20 mark on his own. It becomes very grey when you add in the salary we will contribute, and the value that holds to another club, especially one reportedly in cap trouble year on year. I'd love for it to involve 2, but would still be doing it for 13 (either will involve salary contribution and picks going their way)

Next years future 1st that we'd be giving up would be a top 3 pick in that scenario.

absolutely.

Just a question, how are people so definitive on small differences in draft pick order when we have not seen much football played in some states? Big differences, yea sure, but pick 3 vs 5 say, is it definitely a big difference this draft?
There are reports that many clubs consider there to be a gap between the top 4 (Daicos, Horne-Francis, Callaghan and Darcy) and the rest. If Hawthorn is one of those clubs, getting pick 2 is important.

It would be poetic if Chad did go in a lot of ways.
I can see him, the man who told the club not to go near him during his draft year, being their first norm smith medalists and in their first premiership side.
Only thing is finances won't be enough to get him there- as others have mentioned Chad is a very emotional guy and I can see this turning ugly real quick if it isn't handled well behind closed doors.

It went that way at Port. Very quickly.
