On potential it's a massive gap imo. Highest ceiling in this draft is probably Callaghan. Not many players come along that size, that agility and balance who run a 6:10 2km and can find and use the footy. He has top 5 mid in the comp potential with his tools. But that's just it, it's only potential. Do you trade the farm for someone completely unproven who has only played a handful of NAB league games as an inside mid. Pretty massive gamble.

Just a huge risk… could be worth it but are we in a position to take that gamble?

Would you prefer one of Callaghan over say Ward + Sinn? We could swap our future first with the Bombers or Saints future second for pick 9 or 11? and grab Sinn with that pick… which would seem super risky but I’d probably prefer the combo of Ward and Sinn over just Callaghan for a similar trade.

I highlighted the Bombers and Saints because they will need a couple of first round picks if they are making a play for King next year

Most recent post on the draft rumours thread is an interesting read. Richmond supporter has us trading 5 + future 1st for gws pick 2 + future 2nd. Apparently it's done but afl wants to keep it for draft night to keep it interesting.

Really don't like that trade. Callaghan's highlights are pretty special, but gee he f**ks around & runs himself into some trouble.

If we're giving up 2x 1sts, I'd much rather we target Freo's 6 + 8, instead of GilWS' 2.

You just said he has the potential to become a top 5 mid and that is the reason the club would be contemplating it. Every 18 year old Is a gamble trying to forecast what they might become in 5 years rather then if they can play season 1 . In terms of size and athleticism he is the prototype midfielder.

Just to use the point system if we gave up 5+6 for 2+26 as an example it's equivalent to pick 43 in gws favour, i hate using it but clubs would. Always ways to move back into the 1st round next year with 2nds offering 1 and a senior player , moving our future 1st there are ways . It's just a disaster if we are sitting 0-5 start of the season with no 1st round pick haha.

If we can somehow get another pick inside the top 25 on draft night that would be the ideal result. What about trading our future second and future third round pick for a 2021 second round pick?

I imagine the dogs would be pretty happy to trade 23 for your future 2nd. Especially if you throw in pick 59.

Horrible trade and has the potential to be crippling in the same way Collingwood's trade with GWS last year has been for them. Even if Callaghan developed into the player he is speculated as being it won't solve all our issues, we need multiple elite young players in the next 2-3 drafts to get back to being a challenger. One player is not that cure all for our list holes. Give me Ward or Mac & a 2022 high first rounder any day of the week. Hopefully its just a Tiger supporter stirring the pot.... I don't think we're that dumb....I hope...

Each to their own but I wouldn't be handing over a possible future top 5 pick for guys that are borderline top 10 pick... I seem to be in the minority. Maybe Hawks climb the ladder but I'm not so sure.. I'd be looking to pick up future first round picks rather than trading them out.

West Coast are very keen on Erasmus they tried pretty hard this year to pull some strings and get him in their academy . Definitely one team I could see trying to move up.

West Coast are into Josh Sinn big time, he is their target, pretty sure they pick him up.

Maybe but it's something to discuss at least for the next week and a half. Didn't you recently say north offered 20 and future 1st for pick 2 I can't remember seeing that reported anywhere does that mean you're wrong?.

the post was that we had agreed to a trade and it was done - not at the discussion stage between two clubs - there have and will be plenty of offers discussed and made and turned town that won't be reported by the media and I can easily be wrong
