'Charlie Cameron was aged 23 years old was a young gun when he joined the lions,Ted Richards 22 Essendon to Swans, Jye caldwell 20 I believe ,GWs still wanted him,so it does happen, money and lenght of contract will determine his fate. My point is anyone is gettable,it comes down to,what is a club prepared to pay to get the talented player in their jumper.
Charlie would have barely averaged a goal a game before he was traded to us and a heap of us thought pick 12 was overpaying. Getting someone like Bolton would cost us Neale’s worth!

Agreed. If we get Bobby Hill now, that might be more like getting the Adelaide version of Charlie Cameron. High potential and could be anything in 2 years time.

Bolton will be way more expensive in trade value and salary $$$. If he's willing to take less, he might as well opt to stay with Richmond.

After seeing Narkle get dropped again tonight surely he'll be looking for another club come years end. Think I remember hearing that he was get-able at the end of last season but with the uncertainty around list sizes and salary no club asked the question. Personally think he is already a good player with the scope to only get better and could come quite cheap.

Interesting point. I remember we were linked to him in some report somewhere.

Yeah we were linked to bringing both Narkle and Cockatoo to the club last season. Got one of them. Do we have another crack at the other?

Played some good football and seems like someone who could flourish under Fagan.

It was only a passing mention, and in the context of could the first pick in the draft be used to bid on another team’s father son/nga academy kid 3 years running, but...

Twomey mentioned Will Ashcroft as a potential number 1 pick in next year’s draft.

Reason why Charlie as you stated averaged a goal a game - You have forgotten-Adelaide had another small forward during this time - guess who charlie was playing with —Eddie Betts
Charlie was Eddie’s understudy at adelaide no doubt the adelaide players saw Eddie as the go to player and Charlie -he was just there to put the icing on the cake. There to mop up what Eddie could not get. Whereas at Brisbane, Charlie had the chance to step out of Eddie’s shadow and be what Eddie was at Adelaide that premier small forward. The go to person just like Eddie.

In terms of Charlie‘s talent that was never the question,( 2015 AFL RISING STAR NOMINATED and quote from a news source “In Round 9, 2017 Cameron starred against the Brisbane Lions, kicking four goals in the third quarter, including a run which involved two bounces, and a high pack mark.He had another impressive performance the next week in Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round, kicking three goals against Fremantle in a 100-point win ‘).Charlie was still contracted up to the end of 2018 and is therefore the reason why Brisbane had to pay overs (he was still contracted) ,they obviously wanted to secure his services as they saw his potential and wanted to act ,prior to him coming off contract, fearing they may lose the opportunity to secure him. Some including myself felt if Brisbane had of waited until his contract was finished the following year, it would have diminished Adelaide’s upper hand in negotiations meaning the price paid by Brisbane may not have been so high. I can see why in hind sight Brisbane did not want to wait as Charlie repaid the faith in him in spades.quote from news source.

Charlie already avg over a goal a game before he came here
As said Eddie was the go to man. Also played off HB if I remember in some games

Also right up there in 2017 kicked 5 in a PF to get crows to GF
Ranked 8th in Total Tackles Inside 50 in 2017
Ranked 5th in Total Bounces in 2017
Ranked 7th in Bounces Per Game in 2017

I always thought pick 12 was good for him.. he was known quantity
We used low picks on lots of players which has not gone so well.

Narkle could be a good option and I still think questions should be asked about Clarke. He is maybe not a huge list need but his run and pace are a point of difference and Geelong just wont give him consistent game time

I just don’t believe Bolton is a realistic trade target.

Most likely that article is just part of his agents negotiation strategy.

And to genuinely fit him in the team, would probably cost us two of McCarthy, Blake or Keidean Coleman.

I completely agree that he isn't realistic, and we wouldn't be able to match the WA clubs salary wise if he was open to a move, so zero chance. He didn't grow up in Queensland (unlike Charlie) so there is no reason to come to us.

But I have to say that the comment about him playing a similar role that McCarthy or the Coleman brothers might play in the senior team. He's as much a midfielder now as he is a half-forward, and you would be trading him in on big $ to play midfield presumably.

It'd be more of a challenge for Dev and might mean Zac Bailey spends another year as a 60-70% half-forward and 30% midfielder. Also who would care if it cost us two of McCarthy, Blake or Kiddy - Bolton is way better than all of them (and I love McCarthy and really like Kiddy). But again, zero chance it happens in any case.

I assume it is Geelong or WA for Clark. I've been a bit underwhelmed with him tbh, and he hasn't played any time in the back 6 this year as I don't think geelong trust him defensively.

Stephens from Sydney another option for an underwhelming outside midfielder.

he's more worth paying than Zac Williams for example.

Zac Williams was never worth what Carlton put forward for him. That was simply mind-boggling.

I liked the idea of paying Williams 650k to be an attacking half back. 800-900k to continue to play half-back after not being fit enough to play midfield is certainly a bold list management decision.

If he improved by the same amount as Neale, Lyons, Cameron, etc. did after joining us he'd be worth the $800k but plodding away in a rabble like Carlton he's not worth much.

Where was this mentioned?

If this is the case we'd be better off retaining our 2022 FR to match a high bid. At very least we can still trade it if Will slips down the order

Was mentioned on the Road to the Draft podcast
Have started thinking the same in terms of keeping our first round pick rather than potentially going into a deficit with Fletcher being spoken about as a good prospect next year as well. Sounds like we'll be needing a lot of points

Ummmm... the bolded bit, I didn’t say that.

Road to the Draft podcast, when Cal was talking about North potentially bidding on Daicos with the first pick in this year’s draft. Then mentioned it could happen again in next year’s draft with Will Ashcroft.

Collingwood’s ex recruiter also mentioned on SEN a couple of weeks ago that Will Ashcroft was the number 1 pick in next year’s draft.

I mean sure I may have misinterpreted your comment but seems to me like you are saying we couldn't have Bolton and say Linc +Kiddy in the team. Whereas I think he'd be more of a threat to Dev as he plays far more midfield minutes than the three you listed.

In any case it doesn't matter as it won't happen!
