When should we next spend a high draft pick on a KPP? Daniher probably has 5-6 years left, similar for Adams. I think a KPP needs about 3-4 years of development on an AFL list before they start coming into their own, so perhaps in 2023? Ballenden probably gets cut at the end of the year, but he can be replaced by a lower draft pick with few problems.
I know Ballenden is on the rookie list, but hope he gets at least one more year, just needs a bit more mongrel and a few kilos of muscle and we could see genuine improvement. He is a good kick.

He might, simply due to the lack of KPPs on our list, but it'll make the delisting decisions at year's end even tougher. I don't think he's ever going to develop that mongrel, players usually either have it or they don't.

He is an excellent kick, but he has other deficiencies. Not sure he has the physicality to make it as a KPP in the AFL.

Ballenden been playing the Rich/Birchall role in the twos at times.
just because you are 200cm does not always make you a ruck or KPP.
I do worry about him one on one. He is a good intercept mark and great skills by foot.
I had high hopes for Fullarton although he seems to have no confidence in goal kicking, for a big guy does not take too many marks.
Very good below his knees though. Ruck he tries although now Lane in the side not sure he be #2 ruck now.
Have not watched todays match yet saw the score :(

Be interesting spot wise what we do with him and others.

Suns wise Bowes or Lukosius be nice.

Agree.

Still waiting for Josh Schache to develop some mongrel.

Imagine the meltdown in VFL heartland if we win back to back flags and then get the consensus number one talent in the 2022 draft. :D :brisbane:

Should've happened back in 2005. Better late than never.

I might even make an argument for Nick Riewoldt Gold coast zoning etc. But Murphy is more legit case.

No doubt they will change the rules before then.
The Premier can’t match a Father Son in the first 20 picks.

Tsatas also very very impressive. From the 2.5 quarters I watched Ashcroft was pretty clean in close, seemed to be playing on the defensive side of each stoppage but occasionally would run through and take a clearance out the front. Nice finishing ability too. Didn't show real high end athleticism or outside run, but was just exceptionally tidy.

Long way to go for him and for us, but getting a player like him for pennies on the dollar is exactly the sort of thing that prolongs your stay at the top.

Noah Bradshaw playing for one of the two Vic Country sides in this weekends U19 trial matches.

Starting on the bench, probably indicates he’s a fair way off come draft time.

Argh I missed both his goals!! 1st the stream wasn’t working and the second because I had to go out quickly. From limited viewing his work was done in close. Not a lot of spread and throwing it on the boot but he just seems to have a sixth sense or was able to go in and get it when he wanted. A lot to work with, already having visions of he and Dev getting in and under and feeding it out to Hugh and Neale in a few years time.

Early top 5 2022 draft prediction..... from Davo-27 one of big footys more notable phantom drafters >

1. Will Ashcroft - VM
2. George Wardlaw - VM
3. Elijah Tsatas - VM
4. Oliver Hollands - VC
5. Adam D'Aloia - SA

:D
