Will Perth people in massive numbers pay $200 to watch a PF that doesn't involve their team and rush to buy $400+ GF tickets?? The GF I can see the corporates spending big and buying large slabs of tickets when it goes on sale to general public.

The Dreamtime game was reasonably priced, partly to allow for many indigenous community members who travelled from all over WA, and partly because it was Essendon's home game and they negotiated ticket prices with Perth Stadium's venue manager, VenuesLive so that they didn't charge WCE games prices.

I don't think it will be an automatic carbon copy of the Dreamtime game - crowd wise.

GF would sell out in hours, even if the tickets were $300. You'd expect the PF tickets to be reasonably priced.

The PF will be the same price as last year ie just under $200. The AFL have so far only guaranteed to freeze the first 2 weeks prices.

The AFL didn't drop the prices for Melbourne v Brisbane QF at AO, but they did concede and take a few Aisles out of the top category and drop it into the lowest category.

How much I'm not sure given the new covid configuration, but if the Aisles were full, it probably is about 4,000 seats.

I honestly might need to be dragged away if i see either of those rats in Spurrier or Marshall. Absolutely shafted us to the highest order and its extremely convenient she lifted restrictions last year just in time for her sons 18th. To think we have been beaten out for the grandfinal by that WA pleb, our health care system has somehow managed to become even more draconian than them which was unthinkable 12 months ago. Absolutely diabolical decisions being made just when SA has one of its greatest ever opportunities and a once in a life time chance to host an AFL Grand Final.
Nailed it.

McGowan not opening the SA border with WA, so no 14 day quarantine for low risk SA and NZ and get a very low risk rating like NT and Tassie who have no quarantine requirements, and Marshall keeping crowds at 15k or less.

Mcgowan has only been making teams do a 7 day quarantine at Joondalup prior to playing a game. Put a bye in between the prelim and grand final and then everything should be good to go.

Good news that WA has moved. At the very least, we're in with a chance of attending a GF if Port make it with the border open, even if the prelim can't be played in SA.

With 60k and the cost/uncertainly of going to WA, you'd think members with a GF guarantee would be in with a pretty good chance of getting a ticket if they want one - certainly easier than getting a QF ticket.

Melbourne and Geelong will travel to Perth after their respective qualifying finals as the AFL prepares to shift its grand final away from the MCG.

Key points:
  • Geelong and Melbourne will only return home to Victoria once their finals campaigns are over
  • The Bombers play in Tasmania and expect to be on the road for the finals
  • The AFL wants to play all finals in front of crowds, ruling out Melbourne and Sydney matches
Last week, Demons coach Simon Goodwin held out hope of returning to his club's home ground at some stage in September.

But the league is set to lock in a new venue for the final game of the season, with Perth's Optus Stadium the frontrunner.

The same venue in Western Australia is also expected to host other AFL finals in the coming weeks.

The minor premiers will fly west after tackling Brisbane at Adelaide Oval this weekend.

"Win or lose, we'll be off to Perth," Goodwin said. "We start our quarantine bubble tonight then off to Adelaide on Friday. "The information we've got is we'll head to Perth on Sunday."

Geelong coach Chris Scott also confirmed on Wednesday that his team would set up camp in Perth following Friday night's finals series opener against Port Adelaide.

The Cats will travel with their full squad and, like Melbourne, only return home once their season is over.

A while to go yet but if we do make it I can't see the allocation being much different from a MCG GF as you don't have all the MCC and AFL members taking up a third of the ticket allocation.

If they didn’t intend to open the top level of the Riverbank Stand like the Carlton game, they should be able to do that and let another few thousand in without too many issues?
Top Level Riverbank was included in Monday's release

I got Tickets in Section 523

Which as I pointed out a few pages back means the actual spectator density is much lower than the Crows games last weekend

Stupid

What's stopping the state from having atleast 30k there on Friday? Nothing .... But they are.
Don't think our Govt was overly serious about getting the GF.
Otherwise crowds would be allowed for at least 50% capacity by now.

But it looks good PR leading up to the election for them to say "Look. We tried our best. Put a great offer on the table, but the AFL chose Perth".

McGowan has the AFL by the kahunas now. Guaranteed both prelims will be in WA by stating all teams will be forced into 14 day quarantines leading into the GF.

Win:win for the Sandgropers.

As Alberton Proud posted above, the top level of the Riverbank Stand is open for Friday night's game. That's where my seats are.

Did you mean can, but typed can't?

Since 2010, the 2 competing clubs are guaranteed 17k each at the MCG, so 34k of the 100k tickets. AFL members reserve gets allocated 23k, for AFL members and AFL entitlements eg staff, life members, corporate sponsors like Toyota, Coke Cub etc and the MCC members get 22k tickets.

Last year at the Gabba the 2 competing clubs got 54% of tickets ie 8,100 each = 16,200 of 30,000.

I would expect the same sort of % as the Gabba at Perth Stadium, given there are only 1,385 venue members and probably 4,000 other corporate seats relating to corporate boxes and corporate areas eg pre game dining functions.

what row? how far back? if they are a fair way back, then that means the 15k configuration is, no spacing between all individuals say sitting in Row M for example, then Rows N+0 are empty, people in Row P then Rows Q+R are empty etc etc.

Can't.

I'm talking raw numbers not percentages. Two competing clubs get around 34k at the MCG as you said. I reckon a GF at Optus would see the competing clubs get around 30-32k tickets. Close to the number you'd get at the MCG in any given year. In percentage terms that's pretty similar to the GABBA last year.

The ones I bought were Row V.

After 7 days they play but the whole field of play is a quarantine zone and there's lots of restrictions on numbers allowed and post match testing, isolation, etc. You don't want that for a GF, it will ruin the pre and post match.

Yep.

Exactly the same as last year.

They want to be seen to be "pitching" with no intention of getting it.

Section 523-2 Row X

Any further up and I'd be leaving a Chem Trail !
