The problem with kids is that they're unpredictable. Last year Coff was heading in AA direction, this year he can't get a game. The same could happen for all of our kids next year and we'll be back in a hole. Or they could all keep progressing and we'll be serious contenders.
Hopefully if they aren't getting a game it will be because someone is playing better in their position. I think Coffields place has been taken by Highmore and he's going to find it hard to get it back. I don't think that's a bad thing.

You can say that about any teams kids. I think Coff and Clarke’s performances earlier in the year just reflected our whole teams performance. Everyone was shit.

What about Harvey coming back as an assistant when he doesn't get the Pies job.
Probably not. He just doesn’t seem good as a coach. None of the Collingwood fans rated him as an assistant either, blamed him for a stagnant midfield game plan. Love to have him around to chat to players and sign autographs though. Maybe in a role similar to the G train where we parade him out to eat pies.

A bit harsh on one of our legends. I think it was on the couch last night where his coaching style was given big wraps ...mainly about the play on style which has been evident recently. Bucks was the coach not Banger and he coached a defensive style of game. Banger is preaching the play on type of game..and out of necessity because they were playing like shite. I think Bangers card has been stamped...by everyone ,which is bullshit in IMO

As a player I respect him more than anyone else and he’s one of my all time favourites. I just try not to get caught up in the hype of always trying to stack a coaching list of “St Kilda people”. Maybe he’s not as bad as he seems or as good as he seems but I don’t think being a legendary St Kilda player makes any difference to his coaching credentials for us

We also have the least under 21 players of any side in the competition. We have a funny list with lots of broken down old guys, a lot of mid career players from other clubs and a smaller than average youth list. It reads statistically as old but it's more unusually balanced than anything. After next year we will have very few older players and possibly even jump to one of the youngest statistically.

Clark started well but is still inconsistent. Coffield really struggled from a guy who was killing it last year.

I dont like the way he has been dismissed already as a coach and it is based on his personality more than his coaching record. A well mannered nice guy and popular and quietly spoken but there is some steel underneath. I cant work that theory out "nice guys finish last" A 1-2 record but it could have been 2-1 and have the blues this week which could be a win. Not sure if he will get back to the saints though but I think his priority would be the Pies job. He certainly wont come back just to sign autographs, that's Luke Dunstans job now...:)

well, he has been a coaching assistant for more than 10 years, he has tried for head coaching jobs all the way though. there are obviously reasons (including how he communicates to the public) that maes other clubs not want him as head coach. Personally i wouldnt have him as the saints coach either.

I'm sure Harves is a top bloke but he stayed at the Pies forever because he was Buckley's hero.

His record as a coach is, to put it kindly, average.

If he really wants to be a senior coach he should step away from AFL and take on a state league team. Show that he can implement a winning strategy and bring a group together.

Otherwise he will have to settle for being an OK assistant.

Interesting to see what happens to the cats, given WA just made the call to make all VICS isolate for 14 days upon arrival and they were mid-air to WA set to face freo.

Yep - announcement says "Effective immediately" not the end of the day or tomorrow at "x" time.

Hotel quarantine pre game, no crowds, fly out straight after the game or the season is stuffed.

he was offered to take the colingwood VFL coach role a few years back and he said no.

Just heard on the news here in Perth that Tom Barrass has a hamstring injury and will be out for a couple of weeks which means he will miss our game against West Coast, that certainly helps our chances as he's one of their best tall defenders.

Ok, wonder why he knocked that back. I know he did win the assistant coach of the year way back- probably the year before "Richo"
Don't know, but I always thought that it was silly of him. He has never coached his own side until now.

Yep for all the wank about us topping up and having an old list, we just pumped the best team in the comp, interstate.

We only had 3 players with over 150 games experience and 1 player over 28 years of age.

Of our 8 oldest players only Ryder was playing last match and we have Clark, Bytel, Coffield, Paton, Battle and Gresham to come back into the side.

The media and wider footy community can do as they please.

Please don’t confuse them with the facts or expect them to do any homework.

It won’t hurt for both of those two to realise that the list has some capable players on it who are more than capable of coming in when their form dips below the required level. Or if they aren’t in the required physical condition. In fact in an ideal world all our players would know that.

Yep, some pressure from below never hurt anyone.

Pretty bad PR for the leauge when the bloke at the front of the photo isn't even covering his nose.
