A win for a neutral supporter is a cracking Grand Final game.

I don't mind a last minute Bailey Smith goal.

Or a Taylor Duryea game saver.

Or a buzzer beater from Max Gawn.

Bring it on :) .

You have it completely backwards

Melbourne had their way, they voted to merge (although there is the chance that their votes were rigged)

We voted no merger

Melbourne supporters can thank Hawthorn members that their club is still in existence

We denied them their way. By voting No.

IF...Max Gawn plays well Melbourne will get over the line.

Everyone hates Hawthorn and 98% of neutrals were barracking hard against us in those grand finals. Hardly going to single out Dees fans.

Also - the merger fervour is really overdone when it comes to the Demons now. Their vote was highly speculative and the proxies were stupidly in favour of the merger and likely their board rigged the vote. Demons members on the night voted about 75% against the merger.
To each their own but I was surrounded by plenty of Melbourne supporters at the time who all smugly called it a “takeover”. Melbourne didn’t need to merge for the money, a huge driver for them was their lack of success on field and a want to take a short cut in improving their list. Piggybacking on the back of our success for the previous 25 years as they had foundered. It was grubby then and I still don’t feel great about it.

Bulldogs by 5 goals. Too much Melbourne hype. Beveridge is a better coach. Dogs went to Port and smashed them. They have a lot of belief and have been here before. Unless the AFl intervene and want a fairytale.

Didn’t see 2016?

Don’t doubt there were dickish supporters back in those days, so fair call if that grudge still remains. Personally I reckon the large majority of Demons fans would have been anti-merger (as the vote on the night showed) they just had a dodgier board than ours.

Totally get your reasons for going against them, for mine the long suffering faithful supporters deserve their day like the Dogs got 5 years ago. That and the Neale Daniher factor are enough to make me content if the Demons get up.

My recollection of events were that the majority of Demon supporters voted in favour of the merger.

Overall due to proxy votes, the merger vote was successful at Melbourne yes. However the supporters there on the night voted against the merger by about 75%. The contention has been that the proxy votes were highly suspected to be rigged by their board.

Well 2016 was predominantly nightmare, but either way: nightmare/fairytale - a footscray win is fiction.

Why was 2016 a nightmare unless you go for the Swans? Fiction that Melbourne are already premiers? Cmon. This is anybody’s game. It’s a game that either team can win. You’re not giving the dogs much credit. They have been there abouts all season. It’s not just Melbourne’s to lose as much Bulldogs to win. This is is a 50/50 game not fiction.

So this game won’t be on 7plus for some smart TV’s, and won’t be on Kayo for anyone. In 2021, this is pretty rubbish.

Looks like Ive got to get the 7plus app onto the PS5 to watch the game.

Will never be on Kayo/Fox as it’s a legislative thing where certain events must be on FTA. Presuming you have no aerial for FTA channels on your TV?

Correct. No FTA or foxtel. Just apps on my Android TV, but apparently this won’t work for the GF.

Should be a ripper game. I'm changing my tip, I had Melbourne going all the way a couple of weeks ago. However, I have this nagging feeling that the Dogs will get up in a close one.

Either way, we should be in for a spectacle.
Just hope the umps don't ruin it.

Max Gawn will be a huge factor as he has the potential to give the Melbourne midfield a massive advantage in regards to first use. If the Dogs can curb his influence it'll go a long way to helping them take home the cup.

Want the demons to get flogged as I just saw they have a Max gawn mascot....

Agree. However, the Dogs adapt by competently sharking the opposition ruck's taps.
Its what he does around the ground that will have a bigger bearing on the game .
His workrate really is incredible.
They also have the flexibility of a very decent 2nd ruck in Jackson who also is very competent up forward.

Im not sure Stef Martin is going to be able to keep the pace up .

This has been a huge matter of conjecture on Bigfooty this week ever since the Brownlow wasn't telecast.

Personally i'm more shocked at how many people don't have access to free to air television...
