Our Ruck and back up ruck/fwd is the most critical role that we have to fix this summer. I am starting to form the view that we can not rely on TDK to be the #1 ruck, he just gets destroyed time and time again.. another pre-season will help put on some size, however do we really want to go into 2022 with him as our #1 ruck.. Pittonet has shown time and time again that he is not capable of being anything more than insurance, and has no fwd craft at all so can be a back up ruck and thats it.. IMO rather than looking for a Fwd who can ruck to replace Levi.. I think we replace Levi with TDK but then we need to find a genuine ruckmen, and if it costs us good picks then so be it.

Probably true in some cases, maybe too early in others. BSOS for example was only in year 2, that felt a little harsh to me. Macreadie had been around for a while so perhaps it was fair he'd run out of tickets. Goddard also felt a little harsh.

Either way I still believe keeping at least one is better than dumping all. For no other reason than being a contingency plan if Jones or Weiters would go down.

I think a backup/developing key defender is also a priority. Maybe more important than a backup fwd/ruck? That feels like a bonus to me than crucial, especially with Charlie and Harry up fwd. A 3rd genuine tall could upset that balance, 3 talls is a bit much.

Agree wholeheartedly so Ladhams of Port is ready to go , or iLynch (Pies)& Meek 200 cm +110kg. Dockers all are good options and will improve with development.
Ladhams is the one for a ready solution, young strong and good upside I reckon.

How does Pittonet rate in hitout win percentage / hitouts to advantage vs Flynn?

Or against his peer group as a whole, for that matter?

Mirkov has played half a season of VAFA div 3 and 2 VFL games.
Pittonet is not good enough, and he got comprehensively beaten every single game he played at the beginning of the year.. He is not AFL standard.
TDK - Is young, raw, athletic.. but is being pushed around too much and is costing us games.. Think Tim English 2 years ago..

Completely agree on all points. We forget that Pitto is still relatively young. He may still peak, but we need another option for 2022 at a minimum.

Yeah our ruck stocks are a bit of a mess. TDK is still a year or two away from being an out and out #1 ruck. Pittonet should be a 3rd choice backup ruck. Casboult isn't useful anymore as a ruck/forward.

So we are a #2 ruck and a main ruck/fwd down. We finally addressed the longer term project ruck in the mid season draft. We massively went in under resourced this season and sure enough a bit of bad luck came in areas we were light on bodies (KPF light 1-2 there, KPD light 1 there)

Not good enough compared to the level of importance we put on him right now. Definitely a useful 3rd choice to come in when the #1 ruck and or the ruck/fwd is out injured

Im keen to add a ruckman ahead of TDK and see it as having a really good structural effect on the team, someone like Ladhams from Port, who could take the number 1 spot, allowing TDK to play 60% forward, removing the need for us, to take a KPF in the draft, TDK would have a much better output than a draftee.

Having Pitto as our third choice, is much better than having him in the side each week, if we want to play two rucks, it would also be good to be able to have two rucks, developing in the VFL.

We don’t need a Levi replacement, we already have one.

Perhaps long term, but on exposed form in 2021 no.. I feelis too big a risk to go into 2022 with him as our #1.. Bring in an established older ruck, and make TDK take the position off him rather than simply be gifted it because there is no one else.

Yep - Eddie has never been on the rookie list prior to his current stint.

I don't think that's right.

Clearly no superstar but for mine he's definitely an adequate first choice ruck. I reckon fans vastly overrate how important it is to have a dominant ruck.
