COLLINGWOOD

Selections:
Pick 3, 18

The Magpies are eyeing a number of options, with their prized Pick 3 set to dictate how the rest of the mid-season draft plays out. The club has met with Sturt high-flyer Ash Johnson, the half-brother of Crows forward Shane McAdam, and Norwood tall forward Jackson Callow. Collingwood is believed to be very keen on Callow, who currently ranks No. 1 in the SANFL in contested marks in 2021. Eastern Ranges tall Aiden Begg, who is currently out with a shoulder injury, is another option for the Pies. Furthermore, Collingwood looms as the most likely landing spot for ex-Tiger and Crow Tyson Stengle, who has interviewed with the Magpies twice. However, teams believe he could alternatively return to the AFL club land at end of the season as a delisted free agent.

GOLD COAST SUNS

Selections:
Pick 5, 19

Gold Coast could use both of its selections on Wednesday night. Sturt’s Ash Johnson and Norwood’s Jackson Callow are on their radar for their first selection, but Collingwood – which holds Pick 3 – could pinch one of them before the Suns’ pick. Then, due to their injuries this season, the Suns are likely to use their second pick on a ruckman. They’ve been linked to Southport’s Fraser Thurlow, Werribee’s Wylie Buzza and Swan Districts’ Corey Gault – three players who’ve all been previously on AFL lists – while they’re also considering 210cm Carlton VFL ruckman Alex Mirkov. However the Suns are more likely to stay local and pick Thurlow.

So I think who we dont pick, suns will, going by the fact we are interested in the same players

We better Bloody Not take Stengle. Could live with as a De-Listed Free Agent at years end.

So we are Very Keen on Callow now?

Stengle should play out the rest of the year in the sanfl, build up his reputation and professionalism until the end, and then go as a DFA.

I think we take Callow. He goes #3, Suns take someone else at #5. Noise about Johnson is a trap for us to take him. Callow is the better stat. He should have been drafted in lieu of Liam McMahon. The only reason why he wasn't was because he came from Tasmania. Callow. They've met with him, they've tracked him - if they don't take him, I think there'll be external pressure for a few heads to roll starting Monday.

Think the Social Media barrage the Club has had about Callow will make Hine and Co Pick Him?

Sounds very much like the Suns are feigning interest in Callow in order to get Johnson tbh. Not that I care, because I want us to take Callow way more anyway.

There are both Positives and Negatives about Callow and Johnson.

Johnson Postives

- Still got Upside

Callow Postives:

- Not a Ton of Upside
so the 23 year old has upside but the 18 year old doesnt? makes little sense to me this. of course the athleticism means extra upside but callow has much more time to develop and those extra years ought to help.

Why they bother mentioning Corey Gault (in connection with the Suns) when he chose not to nominate is a bit of a mystery!

I would hope this interest in Johnson is because he is a list need and has ability to become best 22 not because of the Do Better Report.

I hope so too but IF it's Line Ball between the 2 then Do Better Report could come into effect.

Be happy with either really as we need Forwards

Could be an option.
I like the look of Thomas Spencer from Beaumaris. Beautiful user of the football and lightning fast

This is the North Sunshine Roadrunners. Not sure what number Vu is. Website lists him as number 118.
Could be a typo and maybe should be 8. What adds to the confusion is that there are two 8s in this pic.
I suspect Hine will go to any lengths to hide a player.....

AIDEN BEGG
Ruckman
197cm/87kg
8/10/02
Eastern Ranges

Begg recently suffered a season-ending shoulder injury, which will be looked at by clubs considering him, but the versatile tall thrust his name into the mid-season mix earlier this year. Begg has played as a ruckman at under-19 level but can also hold down a key forward or back role.
