Whats everyones thoughts on these players?

Witherden, T. Kelly, T. Taranto and the stacked midfield at the dogs?

Witho as a lions fan is awkwardly priced for me at 450k, borderline a 'premo' to some standards.

T. Kelly not too sure about this dude going into this year.

Taranto he will be somewhat of a consistent 80 scorer, with a few high and lows but don't really think he generate any $$.

Macrae, Dunkley and Bont have been consistent scorers, when even Liba has his days, now with the added Treloar, I'm not too sure about these blokes.

The dogs will all be in the top line of their positions
Dunkley will be a top 2-6 forward
Bont will be a top 10 mid over the year as he always plays 22
Macrae will be a top 5 mid still
Can see libba dipping to 90’s and Hunter being in the low 100’s.
Bailey smith and treloar are the ones I have no idea about. Both capable of being 105+ guys. Treloar is an injury risk every year. Bailey smith if he was playing for richmond I wouldn’t even hesitate starting but I think like last year to finish he’ll be the one pushed to the wing/half forwardline

telly is the guy in that eagle midfield. Will be more settled at home you’d think this year. Has an all Australian ruck giving him silver service. I think he can get up to 105+

taranto looks to be an absolute stud. But I think he’ll always be a fantasy star and just a semi premo in supercoach. Can see him averaging 105-110 in fantasy and 85-low 100’s max in supercoach. Until he cleans up his disposal and gets an unlimited inside pig role I feel he’ll always be a rung below the elite supercoach mids like titch Neale and Oliver. Would’ve been a lock as a fwd/mid which i was hoping for but as a mid guys like Rowell Simpkin and further down in Cunnington are probably better starting choices imo

If you're only getting top 10 players across every line you are either winning the comp by a few hundred points, or you are completing your team in round 21 lol.
Completely unrealistic.

Probably more realistic if it's top 10 forward and defence, top 2 rucks and top 15 midfielders. What's the issue with completing your team in round 21?

You're ranking would be rubbish if you are took that long to complete your team.
By the way you were dismissive of Birchy before I assumed you are an overall player, not the end of the world if you completed your team that late if you were only going for league wins.

Top 1% can be ranked 3000 overall. And a long way behind a top 10 finish. If you're happy with that, good luck to you.

Seems to me like pockets is playing for overall since Top1% is beneath them. Mind boggling that they see no issue in completing their team by Rd21. Would explain the 7k finish last year though. Peaked in Rd7 and never really made up any ground suggests that they were unable to generate enough cash to complete their team in a timely manner. Wouldn't have had that problem with a few stepping stones along the way. :moustache:

Why are all midpricers risky? Every midpricer is a case by case basis, unfair to clump them all together, some are coming back from injury, bad form, new club, new role, changing rules, fixture, price.
I don't think that Ziebell, Daniher and Impey are very risky at all.
Ziebell- Coming back from injury but hardly missed before last year. Tick on scoring, role a small ? but if he's off hb he should score pretty well. Good price.

Daniher- Injury risk but hasn't missed a session and the lions fitness staff are incredible so back him in on that front. We know his scoring potential, absolute bargain.

Impey- As safe a midpricer as you can get. Came off LTI and is fully recovered so unless you think he'll do a knee again he's fine injury wise. Scoring wise, went on that great run in mid 2019 playing off a hbf, seems to be in that role again. If he's playing forward or wing he should stil make a cool $100-150k.
I'm starting Daniher and Impey. Planning on Daniher being my first upgrade though, don't trust his fitness at all. Just need one or two big scores in the first 6 weeks then he's gone.

Impey looks safe as you say, barring injury he's probably the last upgrade.

Stock standard Guns n Rookies side, can't fault the picks (other than injury concerns with Adams and Heeney)

Issue is, will we get so many playing rookies? You probably need to add some mid-pricers to take a few rookies off field

I want to jump on Sier, but I can't have all of Harmes, Milera, Sier, Hately, Ziebell, Daniher and Impey...

Or can I...

Is Phil Inn best 22?..idk
The others you mentioned I can see starting every week.
Sier round 1 gig if Adams misses, but would he hold his spot for the first 10?
I liked the look of him early but hasn’t done much since.. .
Bit of a A.Miles vibe about him.

He's automatically best 22 if he can stay fit and actually shows some care factor. By all accounts he's looking fit and having a decent pre-season. Very injury prone but.

I'm starting to get a bit more serious now 5 rookies on field probably 1 too many but love the midfield. You have to sacrifice somewhere at the start it will definately be forward for my team.

This is my team atm.

I've tried to stay away from the big three: Gawn, Neale and Lloyd due to their high price.
In fact, I've tried not to go above $620K, apart from Grundy

Whitfield, Heeney and Stewart have recently left my team due to injury concerns; and my Defenders now look a bit weak!

Just messing with ideas now. No way I start this team, although it certainly solves the potential "no rookies" problem.
I went through most of the players worth any consideration and gave each a "gut feel" expected average score. From that I ranked them from best to worst in terms of value, (points per $spent), and made up a team of 22 from the best value players.

I would expect the majority of these players to score far higher than their projected scores and that the team would return really high scores in the early rounds. However, lack of cash generation and ability to develop the team would see it fall by the wayside as other teams brought in more premos to replace their playing rookies. Interesting experiment though.
