Collingwood plan to trade in other clubs’ selections that currently sit in the third and fourth round of the 2021 national draft if points are required, with the Magpies able to either hand over future second- or third-round picks, or trade one of their third-round picks for a package of later picks other clubs hold later in the national draft that carry more points when combined.
The club should be all over this. Moving our thirds into next year, yes please.

Any injured gems out there that we can rehabilitate ? We seem to have a track record that could attract real quality. Daniel Talia etc etc

With 2 rucks is we still play 3 talls mostly in the forward line using the bench as well.
Each of our talls play 80-90% game time.. So for that % we play only 2 talls.. Now be three with the extra ruck
Season stats game time
Hipwood 84.1%
Fullarton 75.4%
Joe 93.7%
Oscar 82.6%
McStay 81.5%

we still have a few who not playing a season here
Adams, Neale, Gardiner,Cockatoo,Madden and Sharp all missed chunks Answerth played zero games.
Add to that Andrews and Oscar looked to play injured a lot of the year

Not sure we need another injured player on the list seeing we got our own

I’m not sure that will be possible for Collingwood, unless they delist a few contracted players, with the intention of redrafting them in the rookie draft, and run next season with a short senior list and an extended rookie list.

As far as I’m aware, the AFL reintroduced the rule that teams can only take the same number of draft picks to the draft as they have available list spots.

Jen2310 what’s the word on the Pies board on how Collingwood plan to pay for Daicos?
This I imagine .

With list spots tight, such picks will be available, but to make those trades the Magpies need a vacant list spot for each pick they gain in the 2021 national draft, one of the reasons half-a-dozen uncontracted players remain in purgatory during the trade period.

Explains why a fair few players are in limbo during the trade period.
Might have to de list and rookie some of them.

Hopefully can trade out Cox/Sier, or if Lynch finds somewhere, that'll add to it.

Or might be able to package up picks, so say we use 4-5 selections -- just need 4-5 list spots open. Wright definitely has a challenge on his hands.

Has anyone done the calculations on how many senior list spots and rookie list spots you can run with next year?

For example, if you go with 36 senior list spots, how many rookie are you allowed to have?

Yeah I believe 36 senior, 6 rookies. Or 38 senior, 4 rookie.

Can just see Cox bringing extra scrutiny, could probably be unwarranted but it’ll come nonetheless. He might play an above average game or 2 but we don’t fly under the radar anymore with the media so if we get him and he’s not performing well but still getting games for structures sake it’ll be a big talking point. Would be a walk up start for whipping boy.

Agreed, will replace Birchall straight away for that role and we saw the amount of unwarranted attention Daniher copped from the media and Cox will have nowhere near the imapact of Joe.

Could we trade Collingwood our late picks pick up Cox and probably get a future 2nd or 3rd round pick back
Depends on how committed Lions are to Cox/Fort/Casbult/any others
Pies have not delisted lots of players OOC as they need points
If we are committed to Cox i think the trade could be done fairly early in trade period. Pick 54 (220 points) or 60 (146) should get it done
Fort on the other hand could take more time.
Cats looking at Ladhams and other ruck prospects and may not deal on Fort till that is nearly sorted.
Discussions on Fort would be ongoing during this time

if pies need points and have any cap space left
Cox or Lynch and they pay some might work for us as limited spots and we have 47, 51, 57, 73
I believe Cox and Lynch are out of contract, so not sure the Pies would re-sign and then trade them.

Our late picks are going to be pushed back further as other teams compensation picks during the signing period.

Right now, our later picks now sit at 50, 54, 60 (and 76 which isn’t worth any points).

What’s max Lynch like? Unknown compared to cox and casboult…. Would that be a better option?
I like casboult’s ability to mark, but will he be able to help out in the ruck?
