Twomey's got him at 18, seems about right - could go anywhere from 10-20 imo.

Recruiters look for athletic upside in players and Goater has plenty of that. The 190cm midfielder is agile, quick, can jump and uses his height to advantage around the ball and ground. His season finished with a 28-disposal, 11-mark and eight-rebound-50 game in early August while he also had 23 disposals and eight clearances for Vic Metro against Vic Country. It wouldn't shock to see Goater go a little higher on draft night.

I'm not sure what it is but he just doesn't float my boat. Take away the shots from the boundary and it's all a bit meh.

If he was from Vic, I'm not sure we'd be talking about him.

No goals from outside 40m and alot of chest marks that will get spoiled in the AFL.

If Amiss could convert his freakish accuracy to AFL level it would add something that is almost unprecedented in dockers history. We would just need to devise a game plan that gets him 4 set shots a game within 40m and we are talking 3 goals a game, 60 goals a season from him.
It’s always been a feeling of 10 years hard labour to score goals for the dockers (to borrow a phrase from the purple reign boys).
We are the most inaccurate goal kickers in the league.
That familiar momentum sucking feeling that we all get several times a game (and the associated lift to the opposition) when a freo player misses a routine set shot would be reduced as an added bonus if Amiss develops as expected.

Ryan Murphy was a very good set shot. Kicked 50.28 in his 48 AFL games. Kicked 300.100 in his WAFL career too (although it looks like they didn't count behinds in 04/05 where I found this info). Had some skills but just didn't have that aggro required or get enough of it to become a good player.

I know nothing about the draftees besides what I read or watch on here but a game breaker with aggro is my preferred option over accuracy.

Just warning everyone... I'm expecting they'll put up JVR's highlights in the coming days and they'll look pretty good and most will jump on the bandwagon and say they will be devastated if we miss out on him.

But as is the way, Freo won't pick him (because they never pick the consensus BigFooty pick(s)) and there will be melts up until the point the players they do choose show they are similarly impressive.

I've been in the wanting JVR camp for a long time but I'm not going to have a massive meltdown when he inevitably ends up somewhere else.
