F2 + our 3rd (which we won't be using) for their matching points should be enough for #22 (more like #25).
F1 would be getting a higher pick this year.
Unless they're throwing in their F2 as well.

I did say as the focal point. There would be other components in our favour.

F2 + our 3rd would be a very good result but think they could get better than that.

Would very much like to see a bid on Davey come prior to pick 22. They'd move the pick if that eventuated and a future 1st would be the focal point of a good piece of business for both clubs.

Of course some won't be happy to part with a first in a 'stronger' draft but if we hit with 22 there's enormous value in bringing a player into the system a year earlier. That extra year of development can be massive.

22 may very well put us in a position to be able to bring in someone like Hotton. Hollands & Hotton would be a fantastic result.
If a bid comes before 22, don’t they have to use it then as their next pick. How do they move it. Or are you talking that’s why they move it. Sorry, confused.

Would consider 29 + F1 for 22 + F2 with *, if the right player is available.

Doesn’t really solve their points issue though.
Doesn't solve for us wanting an extra pick either.
If we're keen enough to trade F1 for *'s pick (and F2), then our pick in the 40s is enough to go to them, not our 2nd rounder.

That’s unfair I think. If they have it when the bid hits the table, their draft hand should be effectively locked and they must use their next pick………and it’s *.

Wonder if GWS would bid on him after losing Bobby Hill??
I don't think it's a particularly unfair aspect of the overall system, especially for a F/S rather than an academy player.
Have seen suggestions that clubs should have to include a pick from within the same round, or 10 spots, to match a bid, which would ultimately be fairer.

We are ready to go now so trading F2 and change to get in the 22-28 range this year makes absolute sense, particularly given how even this draft is. There is so much hype about next years crop you would imagine there are going to be takers. Having 3 picks in the top 30 (or close to) would be the ideal result given our list profile and would allow us to address a number of needs / possible needs: high half forward with X factor and run and hopefully a key back and forward as we are a little bit light on for KP depth. Some more like breaking pace would also be nice. Though our biggest need across all lines is some god damn far-king luck with injuries, surely Austin can make this happen as well!

We don’t need a defender who will take three years to develop. We kinda need players that will make our team better in the next year or two.

Trade for immediate weaknesses.

Draft for long-term output.

I think (reserved for future editing) is clearly the best player in the draft and I hope we pick him.
I can't believe (reserved for future editing) lasted until our (whatever we end up with) pick.

I had him rated in the top (whatever pick we end up with divided by 2)...

Good point, I’m actually unsure on the rules here. I hope you are right and that would force a deal done earlier

No issue with clubs having access to f/s, academy or nga players, I would just remove the discount

So, if North bid on Ashcoft at pick 2, they can still use later picks to match, but the value needs to be the same as pick 2

Would also stop the bullshit bids

I have no idea what purpose the Victorian, Wa or SA clubs have in having NGA academies, I don’t see them lasting
