With pick 44, Hawthorn select Billy Dowling from North Adelaide.
Height: 187cm
Weight: 79kg
Arguably one of the best accumulators in this year's draft class. At 187cm, Dowling is a great size for a midfielder and his ability to cover the ground allows him to win a large percentage of his possessions uncontested. What will also appeal to AFL clubs is Dowling's versatility and ability to potentially fill a variety of roles at AFL level, spending time through the midfield, on the wing and across half forward throughout his junior career, but with his aerial ability and athletic profile, a role across half-back could also be an option for Dowling at the next level.

With my 3rd pick I'm selecting the overage captain of the Bendigo Pioneers.
Starting off the year and having little to no impact as a small forward Harvey didn't look like being drafted, he also played for our VFL team up forward and had 0 impact. He then kicks 6 goals in 2 games in the NAB League before being moved onto a half back flank...
This is where it gets interesting. In his last 6 games for Bendigo in the NAB League playing off half back he averages 33 disposals, 10 rebound 50s, 2 tackles and 1 goal a game. Those numbers put him up there with Ashcroft and Tsatas as the best in the league for that period.
Those 6 weeks get him named in the NAB League U18 All Australian team in the back pocket and earn him a call up in the final state game of the year for VC where he played well.
Not overly quick, but seems to find his way out of traffic quiet well he is also an excellent user of the footy. Reminds me a bit of Nic Newman but quicker. He also provides great overlap running being able to push forward and sneak a few goals.
Newman and Doc will be 30 at the end of next year, compounded with the delistings of Stocker, Williamson and to a lesser extent Hayes and Newnes, I believe its time we started looking to add some depth to our HB.
If we can lock him in as a HB flanker and let him learn off a couple of the best in the league, this guy could be anything.

No one interested in Cooper Harvey? Very interesting, think he will be gone before 20, he is a jet and one of the better players in this draft.

At pick 46 and Hawthorn's last pick I'll take Fergus Greene from Box Hill Hawks, VFL.
187cm/75kg, the former Bulldog (2018-2020) has played for Box Hill over the last 2 seasons. Averaging over 3 goals a game and being the second leading goal kicker in VFL this year, I'm eager to give Greene another shot on an AFL list considering there are no other draftees still on the board who I'm overly keen on.

PICK #47 - Richmond - Jed Hagan (Utility/East Fremantle) (174cm, 74kg)
Selected in the 2022 U18 All Australian Team, Jed Hagan's emergence through the ranks in recent years has been nothing less than phenomenal.
Hagan is one of the most versatile players in this draft, having played a dominant role in the midfield at colts level, a small defender at state level and as a half forward at senior level for East Fremantle. Hagan has constantly played a starring role since he debuted for the East Fremantle Colts as a 15 year old
Although small in stature - 174cm/74kg - he is grossly underrated, and would likely have gone a lot higher if he stood at 180cm+. That fact wouldn't tend to faze the Tigers a lot though, already having Liam Baker on their books at only 173cm/69kg, and being surrounded by bigger bodied mids like Taranto, Hopper and Graham.

Pick 48 - Essendon - Ethan Phillips
23 year old ready to key position defender, really good reader of the play, pretty good set of hands. Big improver this year that won the VFL best young player award.
Essendon have just lost Hurley, Francis and delisted Brand so they need to add a tall defender. They’ll be hoping Zach Reid comes on soon because apart from 3rd tall defender Ridley who is a star their tall defensive stocks are pretty poor.
I believe GWS with esoteric are done so I think it’s over to true blue19 and Adelaide.

After having Lemmey taken from before my eyes prior to my first pick, I was expecting one of Van Es or Phillips to be available here. You'd think after doing these for so many years I'd be prepared for the unexpected, yet here we are...
Anyway. As I said with my first pick I fully expect Port to go tall here but I'm not liking any of the taller options left on the board, so needs be damned.
With pick 52 Port Adelaide selects Kobe Ryan. Another home grown grunt midfielder but this one to stash away for a couple of years and lock in the gym. Smaller in stature but when you've got the ball winning ability this bloke seems to possess you can absolutely make the grade. Reminds me of Lachie Neale.
Not the way I wanted to go, but think he represents some value here.

Rounding out the list with some speed and skill. MacDonald is a bit of a bolter. Had a strong finish to the year, started off just in school footy and ended up playing the last game for VM in the national championships. Main strengths are acceleration and taking his opponents on.
List management wise, these late picks are not where I like the build an on ball division or forward line from so if I aim to round out the list with outside players who at least have AFL attributes and may be able to develop into decent HBF’s or wings.

Magor is a talented medium forward/midfielder with plenty of X-factor, a high footy IQ and possesses an innate ability around goals. He's particularly strong in a one on one contest, able to read the flight of the ball early and use his strength to push his opponent under the ball. What makes him standout is that he can do it at ground level also and is able to pull off some incredible snaps. In the midfield he's strong at clearances, clean by hand and reads it well off the ruckman's hands. It's also not uncommon to see him bursting out of stoppages and shaking off an opponent with strength.
Was among South Australia’s best in the opening match of the National Championships against the Allies before injury curtailed his representative year. Was a prolific ball winner at under-18s level for South Adelaide, averaging 22 disposals in 10 matches. He also was dangerous up forward, kicking 23 goals for the year. His endurance was highlighted during testing at the Draft Combine, recording 6:42 for the 2km run.
The Tigers are in need of KPP's, particularly with an aging list profile - however, at this stage of the draft, there are none of any particular note. Probably would prefer to see if any emerge for the mid season draft.
