That guarantees our interest the following year?
Why would our interest have waned following a year of strong growth and development on Ladhams' part?

Anyone interested in Esava Ratugolea? Big body and has apparently looked good as a defender this year.

Would be very cheap so no real loss if he doesn't end up being best 22, but could be structurally vital by keeping Tommy Mac away from the brutes he tends to get mauled by.
I like this idea, I think Tommy Mac needs a couple of years in the gym before he takes the best key forward.

If Geelong end up with Bowes and pick 7, they will likely split this 7 to use in trades for Bruhn and Henry. Would the draft watchers on here prefer to keep 14 & 17 or use these to trade for picks 7 & 37?

Hmm... Well, if we were trading up, it would have to be for an extract or KPD.

Busslinger really only one in that range but he is more reboubding/intercepting than stopper. After him Cam Mackenzie or Ginbey would be next pick IMP

Personally, I would stick with our pick.

Clear top five in Ashcroft, Wardlaw, Cadman, Sheezel and Tsatas.

Just my opinion.. which is worth stuff all.
Im happy to keep our 2 picks

From what Im hearing, the development of this draft class has been heavily (the most) impacted from the covid years. So Im guessing there is less certainty than normal. There seems to be a clear top few players and then its a lucky dip. Kinnear and Dalrymple will have a pretty good idea of the development potential of the players in the range of 10-30. They've a pretty good history of picking players that the Swans can develop.

Theres a few tall players in that 10-30 range which will need development, which I could see us drafting. 2021 we drafted 4 x smaller types + we've a few talls retiring or very near retirement so I can see us drafting 2 x talls with our 1st two picks. Im a big fan of 'athletic talls'.

We dont need to draft for next year. We've got Gould, Mclean, Amartey, McDonald (as talls) and players like Campbell and the 2021 draftees (as smalls) who are all pushing for spots in 2023. We need to draft for 2024 and onwards

So theres no rush for the draftees.. and 2 is better than 1.. keep our 2 x 1st rounders

I am not a draft watcher. But I would find the deal tempting.

Around that range you would have Jhye Clark a consistent driven inside mid. Mackenzie a hard working mid that has composed ball use. Phillipou a tall exciting attacking mid. And Busslinger who I have not seen much footage of but apparently best defender.

I find those mids a bit more exciting than the ones likely available at pick 14 and possibly more likely to debut later in the season.

Though it would not surprise me if Geelong would keep pick 7 and tried to get Jhye Clark. He is a Geelong boy and has apparently really strong leadership qualities. They might be able to get Bruhn and Henry with 2nd round picks or their pick 18.

Unless we can move up to get Cadman I'm more or less happy with who is available at our picks. Even first round picks are a bit of a crapshoot because you just never know who is going to break a leg and never make it etc. It's worth it to have two bites of the Cherry. Not opposed to moving up but it's not clear what the strategy for it is imo.

Cal Twomey's September rankings. Top 30

Still no Jed Hagan, which I find a bit surprising.

At WAFL level, Hagan has been performing in the seniors, whereas Busslinger and Ginbey spent their time in the colts (acknowledging that mids do develop quicker, so Busslinger playing colts isn’t surprising).

All got selected for the national combine.

Hagan reminds me of Will Phillips.

Twomey is pretty astute, but has focussed heavily on the taller prospects.

Apparently Francis wants to go home
Would just be another Hail Mary for a key backman anyway. Kayden Brand Mark 2. Our key defensive stocks have always been makeshift. P. MAC was never designed to be it. He was earmarked for the role he plays. Interceptor. T. McCartin is nowhere near strong enough although serviceable. Rampe undersized and on his last legs. Stop sitting on your ****ing hands and go and target a gun key defender and get them. Stop thinking you are going to pull a rabbit out of the hat with another
Ted Richards. Problem has been glaring for **** knows how long. Besides all that Francis is very ****ing ordinary.

Get Ben McKay and then his brother next year.

Ahhh dreams are free.

Couldn’t agree more

Guy can’t get a game at the dons , also apparently has no work ethic

Surely the club is after a key forward next year. Every major resigning has been on a big deal. Mccartin, jmac, heeney, papley and Mills all got long deals. This is fair indication they are trying to create some flexibility in the Cap to juggle money.

At a guess Imagine they would be looking at Ben King, Harry McKay ans maybe naughton
