Who had pick 39? We could have traded down and traded up our next pic.He was an Hawthorn NGA nomination. He was going to be drafted one way or the other. Clearly we really wanted him and didn't want the Hawks to have the chance to match the bid which they would have at Pick 40.
Hawks can match bid from 40, our current selection. We don't really have that much coverage as far as half back flanks go, and we've seen the difference creative and aggressive half backs can make to a team, so makes sense.
It might be a reach, but it's becoming clear that there isn't anyone that we really rated.
More thinking when Rampe would play more as a HBF than a KPD. More on the Lloyd side for sureRampe and Lloyd are nothing alike. I think 181cm is a bit of a stretch to play as a KPD.
What does that tell you?Tell you what, Braeden Campbell isn't geeling much love from this draft. The two spots he might have hoped to get in the team just got some big competition.
It was more of a reaction to them being a bit left field, plus both short. But looking at vickerys highlight vid, he's a very nice kick, and has some pace, so think he may be a good pick, although feels like we overpaid... I assume we were searching for a team who were looking to trade up to p27, but couldn't orchestrate a decent deal that wpuld enable us to take vickerys before hawthorn could bid.Understand you're saying it's just a feeling, but I've seen nothing to suggest this draft will be a bust. We've so far done the same thing we do every year, which is pick unexpected players we rate.
But even if it is a bust, no great loss. As I said a while back, this draft doesn't feel essential for our list because the bulk of our team-building has already been done.
This draft pick is a ringing endorsement for the value Sydney place on Lloyd’s gameExpected really, but looks like a real nice kick and accumulator and I always felt we needed a type like that. Bit of a lloydy type. Maybe we rated him over cowan it seems.
No just Blakey, JMac, Florent, Campbell, Stephens and Rankin. Not including Lloyd who only has 3 years left.We don't really have that much coverage as far as half back flanks go, and we've seen the difference creative and aggressive half backs can make to a team, so makes sense.
It might be a reach, but it's becoming clear that there isn't anyone that we really rated.
His two best & fairests weren't enough of an endorsement? LOLThis draft pick is a ringing endorsement for the value Sydney place on Lloyd’s game
I guess the GF review suggested we were too tall and needed to replenish our small stocks. We don't seem to be doing much to address why we did so badly in the Grand Final this draft.
I think time (preseasons) can only fix thatWe don't seem to be doing much to address why we did so badly in the Grand Final this draft.
Which 18 year old was going to fix our issues from the GF?We don't seem to be doing much to address why we did so badly in the Grand Final this draft.
We are good for speed and skills. We need bigs
