In the ones where he had no impact.

AFL is an unforgiving game, and especially so in finals. If you don’t hunt with aggression you don’t get rewarded, unless you’re an elite outside uncontested type that knows where to run and when!

That prelim gives me nightmares

Rank Time (seconds) Name
1 7.702 Darcy Jones
2 8.182 Jaxon Binns
3 8.217 Elijah Hewett
4 8.247 Steely Green
5 8.255 Edward Allan
6 8.267 Luke Teal
7 8.285 Toby McMullin
8 8.292 Jacob Konstanty
9 8.325 Harry Rowston
10 8.343 Noah Long

The publicly available 10th at the National combine (which included no key position players) was 8.343.

On the face of if 8.73 doesn’t seem too bad.

Bloody annoying that this information isn’t easily available and the AFL doesn’t just have a proper repository for all things draft prospects (Links to any televised games, testing results etc).

Is there a reason you guys don’t post them PmBangers?
Ed Allen in 5th, at 6’ 4” is v impressive. As is Jones obviously. Would be v happy with both, with a tall or sliding jet to round it out

“No impact” - is very different to being timid.

Maynard has had games with little impact, but that doesn’t make him timid.

The suggestion that Lemmey was holding back is pretty ludicrous. I watched the Metro vs SA game again the other day to have a another look at Jakob Ryan (who I thought looked just ok) and also got another showing from Lemmy. So while Jefferson, who according to some on here has terminal flaws was kicking goals, Lemmey who's going to be a major steal, literally couldnt touch the footy, looked slow and timid, and at one point I felt a bit sorry for him because he was clearly trying his hardest and the look on his face was knowing how bad it was going. He had no possessions until the third quarter and then was moved back, and luckily had a kick fall to him for his only touch of the game. He just hasn't come on this year as expected, he's not tanking.
I heard somewhere he struggled with long Covid for much of the year. He’s a strange case really, because he had a great year last year, and impressed enough as a 17 year old to gain a senior SANFL berth (and also performed well there iirc) in 2021. He hasn’t just stagnated this year, he’s had a significantly worse year, and I can’t help but feel like there’s external forces (ie. illness) at play and that in hindsight he’ll end up being drafted far later than he really should have been.
All of this is just gut feeling of course, but it’s really hard to ignore what he did last year in favour of concentrating on a year where nothing went right for him.

It's worth noting that Lemmey was played out of position during the year as part of his development.
As well as the valid points you raise, Lemmey played FF, high H/F, in the ruck as well as the backline.
It's hardly a wonder he had an indifferent year.
Maybe he wasn't performing so they were trying to get something out of him.
I would also expect experienced recruiters would be aware of something like that.

But then again. I have no idea. He may well be picked in the 1st round.

Yeh, Tony Bamford stated as much

AFL Mock Draft 2022: See how your club fared

The AFL Draft is just two weeks away.
Is your club’s next star about to arrive?
To shine a light on this year’s pool and give you an insight into how the national draft might play out, Chris Cavanagh, Dan Batten and Jordan Pinto played the role of club recruiters in a mock draft of the first two rounds.

The mock is a reflection of club needs and their own opinions, and factor in father-son and academy bids.
It is a different exercise to our phantom draft, which predicts who your club might pick in the draft from inside intel.
Who did your club land in the mock draft? Find out below.

WHO WE’RE PICKING FOR

Chris: Brisbane, Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn, West Coast
Dan: Fremantle, Gold Coast, GWS, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs

Jordan: Adelaide, Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Sydney

YOUR CLUB'S MOCK DRAFT HAUL

Collingwood
Henry Hustwaite (pick 18), Coby Burgiel (pick 28), Harry Barnett (pick 30)

18. Collingwood – Henry Hustwaite (Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country)

Midfielder/defender, 195cm, 82kg
Chris says: The Magpies know plenty about this young midfielder, who can also be deployed across half-back. Hustwaite’s brother Campbell is a co-captain of the Magpies’ VFL team. The younger brother possesses clean hands, one of a few some similar traits he has to Scott Pendlebury. Another quality midfielder would be a good fit for Collingwood.

28. Collingwood – Coby Burgiel (Gippsland Power/Vic Country)

Midfielder/forward, 183cm, 80kg
Chris says: Firmly in the frame to be a second-round selection, Burgiel’s versatility is one of his key strengths. He can play half-back, half-forward or on a wing and have an impact. He is super quick which allows him to break the lines and has sound skills by hand and foot - traits which would suit the Magpies.

30. Collingwood – Harry Barnett (West Adelaide/SA)

Ruck, 202cm, 97kg
Chris says: The Magpies have indicated some interest in selecting a young ruckman in this year’s draft and Barnett is the best available. While he has been a little inconsistent at stages this year, his best has been eye-catching to say the least. Collingwood lost Brodie Grundy during the trade period this year, after Max Lynch departed last year. Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox will have the ruck duties covered next year, but the club’s big man stocks for the future are thin.

I'd normally disagree with you. Later picks are less chance of being a hit, so I don't think you want to be crossing off a huge section of the field because they're the wrong player type. But this year seems like talls in that range are more likely than they usually are, so I'd be all for it.

I wouldn't do it typically every draft I think this one in particular allows for a bit of a punt though in this regard.

Where did pick 79 come from, I thought we only had 4 live picks?
We're only going to take a maximum of 4, because we're going to re-rookie Murley, but technically we have 5 spots available, so we take 5 picks into the draft. They award you extra picks at the end of the draft for each spot you have available.

Not sure. I don’t think we have 5 senior spots available

Technically we do have 5 spots available, as Murley has been delisted and isn't on the rookie list yet. So we can change our list profile from 36 + 6 to 37 +5 - giving us an extra theoretical senior list spot - which we're not going to use, because we'll keep it open for Murley in the rookie draft.

No pressure, no possessions and no goals means no impact.

When you’re out of the game and down on confidence you can apply pressure and throw your body around…and by that way have an impact. He’s too timid to do that.

Right. I keep forgetting about that

Liked the old system better.
I assume murley for the time being is a DFA & could potentially be drafted in the ND, PSD or before us in the RD effectively opening up the 5th spot for a newbie in the rookie draft

Correct. He's in the same position as Hugh Greenwood was last year when the Roos signed him as a DFA - although I think the DFA window may have closed.

If we've delisted him to move him to the rookie list, I'd say we'd be quite happy if another club added him before our rookie draft selection, as I suspect we've only done that for extra flexibility in case there's someone we're really keen on at the end of the draft and thus didn't have to risk him going before the rookie draft. It's not like the past times we've done it, when it's had the clear reason of opening a fake list spot so we can take in more picks with father son points.

Don't know with regards to Lemmey, but Keeler's 20 meter sprint was 3.019 sec's EFA Thx manicpie
With improved fitness and the baby fat gone I think he improves here & when he get's going he builds up speed & cover's the ground well
When you watch him in highlights reels bounding away from players, it's hard to reconcile with that sprint time.
He also seems to have reasonable reaction times with his smothers, ability to pick up the ball below his knees and changes of direction.
He may not have a tank, but he has few problems with his athleticism. It's a strength.

Buddy Franklin wasn't in the top 10 in any category in his draft testing either. But he has moved beautifully through his career and Keeler is a better overhead mark.
