They'll trade out 22 if a bid comes, so it won't disappear, it'll just shift to another team.
Works for me, saves them having a live pick @ 22 & then getting Davey the next pick @ 23 if a bid comes there
Hopefully they trade with us 22 & 68 for 25 & 51 (extra points) or if they involve a future 2nd as we've touched on in the past

May have been discussed.
Of note, no Keeler, Davey, Hustwaite, Rowston or Szybkowski in Cal's top 30
I think 20 - 35 is pretty even & a tough call this year
Olli Hotton listed as a W.A Swan Districts player is a typo as he's a Sandy Dragons boy

Slipping and a Sliding

Ok Dream Hypothetical
Someone slides...
Who do you want?

Busslinger
Allan
Hotten
Hewett
Keeler
Hayes
Jefferson
Weddle

* Asking for a friend - Let's call him "Eric Pine"
Hotton (#30 in Twomey's Phantom Draft), Hewett (#23), Keeler (not in the top 30) and Hayes (#25) wouldn't be sliders... Maybe not even Allen or Weddle, if you're talking about our first pick.

Busslinger and Jefferson are the only two on that list pretty much universally agreed to be going before our pick, they're the only two that would be potentially considered sliders, and even then, not by much.

Top 10 players will likely consist of Ashcroft, Cadman, Sheezel, Wardlaw, Tsatas, Philippou, Ginbey, Clark, Humphrey and Mackenzie. Any of those guys would be sliders if they were available at our pick.

The next group of Busslinger, Jefferson, Hollands, Allen, Weddle etc. could go in any order, and if anyone else sneaks into that group then someone from these two groups would become available to us at our first pick.

I'm not sure I've seen anyone claim we are under-resourced other than Knightmare, a self-proclaimed expert.

We could be light on but I'd be interested to know which club invests the heaviest in its recruitment department.
There have been multiple articles over the last decade saying that our recruiting dept is one of the worst resources in the league. I’ve never even seen KM talk about it, but if he did it’s because it’s been reported.

It looks like our picks might be Ryan, Richards and Lemmey
We’ve been linked to Ryan, Hustwaite, Lemmey, Richards, Clarke, Keeler, Hayes and probably a few others by oppo clubs in the past 2 weeks. I think it’s pretty safe to say nobody has any clue who we’re actually going to take.

Not Mind us taking Barnett IF Available with our 1st Pick.

Be lot of Melting by Pies fans then ;)

was just listening to Tony Bamford, head of SA development, and he says that the South Adelaide ruckman Will Verrall is just as good as Barnett but for injury would have been rated equal to him for this draft. Injury early in the year ( groin ) and during the year held him back a little. Says he is more athletic and has a better leap in the middle than Barnett, although Barnett is bigger.
maybe a cheaper option with a later pick

Quite often we have picked players and they often say they only spoke to Collingwood once and did not really expect to be picked by the Pies and there will be at least 1 player no one ever expected.
I would like to us take 2 talls and 2 mediums that would do me fine but I would also 3 talls if possible but 2+ 2 is fine.

Looks good. Another option at 51.

COLLINGWOOD

Draft picks: 16, 25, 27, 51, 79

List needs: Key forward, rebounding defender, ruckman

Who do they get at first pick: Jakob Ryan

The South Australian defender who looks up to Hawthorn’s James Sicily has bolted into calculations for the Magpies’ first pick after an impressive season. The Glenelg product is versatile and can also play on a win or up forward. He has a good mix of speed and endurance and strong aerial abilities.

Who’s in the mix after that: Harry Barnett, Henry Hustwaite, Olli Hotton, Joe Richards, Harry Lemmey

The Pies have said they would consider adding a ruckman to their list and South Australian Barnett is the best of those. However, he could be off the board before Collingwood gets to its picks in the 20s. Hustwaite is the brother of Collingwood VFL co-captain Campbell and is in the club’s sights as a tall midfielder or defender with some similar traits to Scott Pendlebury. Richards has been the late top-30 bolter, with the small forward or midfielder being a 23-year-old schoolteacher from Wangaratta who played some very impressive football in the Ovens and Murray league this year.

Late mail: Rival clubs expect the Magpies to snaffle Joe Richards with one of their two picks in the 20s, with interested clubs with picks in the 30s having all but given up on snaring him

I wonder if someone like Harry Boyd is worth a late pick - 24 year old ruckman/defender who has played forward as well. Was BOG in the SANFL grand final where he was very good. His story is a bit like Josh Carmichael's in shifting around and a late bloomer. Norwood - SANFL

his top 10’s are usually close to the mark, but what’s his strike rate after that?
One pick can shuffle everything further down the line
Live trading messes any prediction outside the top 10 out of the water

Just seems odd. Not that I don't believe you/the reporting... just a strange thing for a club like ours to be under-resourced in. Unless we've just got a firm belief that the team we've got is enough 🤷
