If we do choose to draft someone today, I'm hoping it's either Lovelock or Magor.
Lovelock averaged 6 tackles at U18 level which shows his intent to chase and tackle.
Magor just looks like another Gresham style of player as well

Let's take a breath.
They essentially did phark all the whole trade season and took a group of sliders on the night. It looks like a good result, but best just leave it at that..
Yep, can never give the club credit for a job well done haha

Whose work is this? Who receives the applause? Toce? Gallagher? Roughead? All the team?
2 years in a row now nailing the draft. For all the stick about being incompetent they sure don't look it

I liked Stocker a lot in his draft year, and he’s one of “us” being a Saints supporter…

But playing devil’s advocate, do we need him?

What’s his point of difference from Steele, Ross, Crouch, Gresham, Windhager, Owens, Bytel, Byrnes, and now Phillipou and Hotton?
I get the point you make. But if we feel hes good enough to make it, then we should take the chance on him. The better players we have on this list the better we are gonna get.

It’s like when people were reluctant to pick up hayes last year because we already had a few tall towards/rucks. If he is good enough, take the chance on that player. And look how good it was the first five rounds.

Mattaes touring the club and asking 'who has the most games' jumps off the screen for me. Got the feeling he envisages himself starting early, play for a long, long time and giving the record a nudge!

I get that too, but Hayes - despite his SANFL exploits - was an unknown quantity at AFL level.

Stocker isn’t.

Really happy with this haul. Covered most needs and went hard on speed and x-factor.

We may not have been able to get that extra 2nd round pick but I don't think that has mattered in the end. We've still got a very good group (on paper) and haven't had to eat into next years pick to do it.

Well done to everyone involved. Now let's develop these guys properly.
Reckon that once Hewitt was off the table we bailed on that idea anyway

I been thinking about who we might have been targeting at #3 or #4 with North.
Who we were prepared to give up #9 and Hunter for….

Then I read on here that RTB has told MP that if we had #1, we would have picked him as #1.

Given RTB wasn’t the coach when Gallagher was negotiating on that deal, and he could very well just be telling MP this, have you heard any whispers about who the likely target was?

Might very well have been MP.

Was thinking we'd take Angus this afternoon and call it a day, but now I kinda reckon we'll take a rookie and then leave one spot for Stocker or the SSP. We've been linked to Archie Lovelock and he's the one we'll take in my opinion. Midfielder as a junior (was BOG in the SA Under 18's grand final with 35 disp), he's probably too small for the midfield at AFL level but projects as the classic quick, tackling small forward with good goal sense. It's an area where we don't bat terribly deep so I reckon it makes sense.

Anyone with a player they hope we pick today?

I don’t know who we would have taken at 4 (Norths second pick) as Wardlaw would have been an option.

But as I said last night. I messaged a few last week that we rated the “live” draft the same as the Dons.

Tsatas and then Phillipou.

Cmac a clear third.

I’m of the belief we were always trying to trade up for Tsatas in the last few weeks.

The best draft with Ross Lyon as our coach!
