COVID top up rules released by the AFL;

The 'Northern' clubs will have access to their own VFL sides as well as players from standalone VFL clubs.
Our VFL aligned clubs are Northern Bullants and Werribee.

Brisbane gets Port Melbourne (and Coburg).

No explanation in the article as to how the VFL clubs were allocated.

Made a decision to get onboard the Suns as my second team this season.

Touky/Rowell combo in the middle should be fun to watch.

yes, i keep waiting and sorta hoping ... they seem to have had such a dreadful run with key injuries, particularly to young stars ...
and i still rate dew as a coach, probly coz he seems to know how to beat us
also, my best mate's niece just moved up there to be with her boyfriend, one of the suns' highest-profile players, so i have an added interest

They were my second team... till they beat us.

Really can't support any side that has beaten us recently.

Would be pretty great to have Rowell or Anderson as well.
Nah, I just think he's a type of bloke who will play his guts out every time and will be loyal to the team. And that counts a lot for me over talent who might just rack off when they get a better offer.

That decision is made more for the unaligned VFL clubs players than the Northern Clubs, it is important the VFL players get similar opportunities regardless of aligned/non aligned club status.

yeah, but miller rarely misses a game ... the other two have had their issues, which isn't mean to be harsh or any kind of criticism, just that miller is more consistently on the field ... and he also seems to be getting better as he goes on ...

Will Phillips has glandular fever, remember that hitting Heeney. As bad an injury, hope for a speedy recovery.
Want him to do well, more for Ceaser88 than anyone lol.

He'll be a gun, zero doubts about it. Will probably work in his favour anyway as he won't have to play through a lot of what I think is gonna be a pretty dark season for North.

Down years have their benefits. We had no talls for the best part of one whole season. We finished bottom 4. Collected the draft cash and away we went. North Should play their best but will get another good draft pick this year. I think their rebuild is on solid ground and they should rise up the rankings in the next few years.

Down years can have their benefits, but it depends on the player and the team. I reckon a lot of youngsters brimming with potential for Carlton, Melbourne, Gold Coast etc. over the years who never went on to become much, would say they didn't find all their down years too beneficial.

Teams with a losing culture struggle to break it.

Typically, a club needs a strong leader to drag them out of the mire. And its usually an on-field leader.

Case in point: without Kel in the early 90's, its questionable whether the Swans would have even survived in Sydney, let alone risen up the ladder.

Gold Coast have talent, but do they have that inspirational leader? Not that I can see.

I thought Cunnington might be it at Norf. But now ... I don't see an obvious candidate.

No idea re: Carlton. They could finish top 4 or bottom 4 without surprising.

Petracca just now on AFL 360 saying he didn't know until y'day that the Demons made the 1988 GF. I get it was before his time, I get not all players are footy 'nerds' but that strikes me as seriously odd that he has been at the club 5, 6, however many years and that has completely escaped his attention. One thing off the top of my head would be the numerous articles and info about Jim Stynes and his passing which would have referenced it, among many others.
