Bye coming just in time for the Dees, they were made to look tired in that second half.

They don't seem to have that air of invincibility at the moment, the door is slightly ajar.

Hugely reliant on May, a couple of injuries here and there and they might lose their way.

Am I missing something? I know this type of injury is pretty sad, but heartbreaking? Is there a backstory with Lachie Weller that eludes me? He's just a player who did a knee, he's not at the end of his career, where's the heartbreak?

Wow, I'd forgotten completely about that! I just checked Wikipedia and you're right, we played in the finals series - lost to Cats, beat Pies and finally lost to Hawthorn in prelims.

Does anyone remember how that game went? I couldn't even see the final score.

Interesting to note that Chips won B&F that year.

Pantsed
Over by half time
Drove over and had 300 on us for the win
Williams and roughie kicked goals
Mitchell hodge lewis etc carving us up

I want to say dempster did his knee that game??
But not 100%

Nah Dempster wasn’t even in the side for that one, might have been injured I can’t remember, but he wasn’t really a regular until like 2010.

No Steven May and two losses.
I'm just waiting for all the May puns
-Melbourne send out a Mayday
-May the force be with you
-Come what May
-Devil May care
-Demons Premiership chance a Maybe
-Demons? Maybe yes or Maybe no
-Maybe next time

Harvey's last game. Will never forget the Hawthorn fans mocking him all through the game.
Was sickened by their arrogance and hoped Geelong would smash them the following week.

Paddy looking like peak Jeremy McGovern! He’s a massive frame & an immovable object! Paddy has always had great hands & neat field kicking. He’s found his spot & become one of the best intercept marking defenders in the comp. Happy for him. He needed a change & plenty of luck.

Can't help but smile really.

I was there against the Hawks and it was a blowout from the time the ball was bounced. They piled the goals on us but somehow good old Max Hudghton kept Buddy (who kicked over 100 goals that year) to one goal. And he only got it because Max slipped in the goal square.

They are probably thinking the same about us.
Good point! 🤣

(Would still have preferred a double up against the Eagles, like the Cats got though…)

Full disclosure: I’ve actually got a soft spot for the Swans. At the very least they are my least most hated team.

Whilst they have benefited more than us we seem to have a pretty good relationship with them in terms of trading partners. We’ve both benefited of trading players into each club & we even took a number of their coaching staff around the Lyon era.

Paddy is another story that adds to my like for the Swans.
