Well that’s kind of my point, if guys like Twomey aren’t reliable until then (I agree FWIW), no-one is. Hence we can’t tell if Phillipou is ‘slipping’ or notTwomey is only reliable a week out.
But out of curiosity, where is the great hope ranked currently?
Before or after the Bowes giveaway line?
What if they do, don't think too many clubs will go that way anyhow and still prefer to use more athletic tall types like we've used Himmelberg and Thilthorpe to chop out while the main ruck has a spell on the bench or utilise players like the Cats and us allowing Hawkins and Tex to contest closer to goal etc. Of course Melbourne have and will continue to do while they have athletic rucks like Jackson and Grundy available. What if they go to this 5 player on the bench / likely to run 2 ruckmen system?
4th year in 2023 .....a lot of our historical "A" graders came from the Clouds (insert rookies) .....Rutten, Laird, Bock, Charlie Cameron ect ....they all don't necessarily put their hand up early careerI'm not suggesting any of our current crop wont become A grade mids (I think Soligo and Rachele could), but the fact is to miss finals five years in a row and not end up with a prospect like above is disappointing.
KPD!Is Cox playing KPD .....or 3rd Tall Role ?
Mostly, I see his positioning as being more pocket / flank ......happy to be wrong though ?
Moot point, as we don't need to delist anyone. See my post above.I do but it's not happening unless they see Thilthorpe more as a ruck than a forward which personally I'd be very disappointed with. Strachan is a depth option wherever he plays.
The club hasn’t had an elite midfield since 2006.4th year in 2023 .....a lot of our historical "A" graders came from the Clouds (insert rookies) .....Rutten, Laird, Bock, Charlie Cameron ect ....they all don't necessarily put their hand up early career
Everyone said Rutten was a fail ....same with Bock
Conversely, there are supposed star players who start their careers strongly & then level off .....there are dozens; Sculley, McGrath, Marc Murphy, Rowell (who is not as great as his hype)
The Crows have traditionally had strong midfield....nearly always ....so I'll give the Club the leeway for knowing how to assemble an elite midfield
How can you give leeway to our current recruiters based on the work of their predecessors? The Crows have traditionally had strong midfield....nearly always ....so I'll give the Club the leeway for knowing how to assemble an elite midfield
Is there still a spare spot? That is 44 total, we had 45 in 2022 - 38/5/2 - correct?OK... so with this new information about the rookie upgrade window, the way it works is this...
Current List status: 35/4/2
2x ND selections: 37/4/2
Strachan & Butts upgraded, Player X downgraded (in same window): 38/3/2
1x RD selection: 38/4/2
... and we're done.

42 (+2 Cat B rookies) is the maximum permitted.Is there still a spare spot? That is 44 total, we had 45 in 2022 - 38/5/2 - correct?
I would put Danger into the elite category before he left for Geelong. Definitely elite in his BnF year 2015 and in 2012 and 2013 being also AA it could be argued if not elite on the cusp of. By the time he went to Geelong he was in his prime an arguably the best player or close to it in the comp. Undoubtedly given at this point in time he played about 150 games for each club the cats go a lot more elite Danger than we did.The club hasn’t had an elite midfield since 2006.
Scott Thompson might not have been A grader in your eyes but plenty would disagree when he was at the top of his powers...Ditto Rory Sloane. The club hasn’t had an elite midfield since 2006.
That’s a long time of not knowing.
Dangerfield was our only true A grade mid from 2012-2015.
Since then and before not there.
Dangerfield, Thommo, Van Berlo, and Sloane were the basis of a midfield after 2006 .....we didn't plan on Dangerfield leaving, but still had the midfield soldiers in 2017 to make a GFThe club hasn’t had an elite midfield since 2006.

Bernie Vince wasn't too shabby either...Dangerfield, Thommo, Van Berlo, and Sloane were the basis of a midfield after 2006 .....we didn't plan on Dangerfield leaving, but still had the midfield soldiers in 2017 to make a GF
Elite is an overused term .....very few of them .....Whitfield and Kelly, both on Million $ Contracts, were terrible this year
IMO you can have an elite season .....but to be an elite player, you have to step up season after season, with consistency .....very few can do that
Most of our recruiting team have been in the recruiting team a long time ......Hamish was there when Danger was recruited ....wasn't the recent retiree there for 26 years ?How can you give leeway to our current recruiters based on the work of their predecessors?

He's a one-paced work-horse .....no tricks, but a contested beastOutside of Matty Rowell I can't think of anyone that has polled 9 Brownlow votes in his first three AFL games. What a start plus number 1 pick never going to keep up with the hype that comes with that start and pick 1. He is not playing bad footy. He is actually playing some really good footy imo. But never going to keep up with that hype.
Needed to kick of his career at a slower pace maybe just 4 Brownlow votes in his first three games not 9.
He needs to look at Dane Swan and become that sort of player in terms of how he crafts his career. Get ball stationary, handball off and move, get ball back, handball off, keep moving get ball again and you are awayHe's a one-paced work-horse .....no tricks, but a contested beast
Rowell always looks to be running on his heels .....there's no spring in his step ....he just charges at the contest, using his strength .....didn't see him take a contested mark all year & he's only 180 cm ....same height as Rankine
Good analogy ! ......that's his goHe needs to look at Dane Swan and become that sort of player in terms of how he crafts his career. Get ball stationary, handball off and move, get ball back, handball off, keep moving get ball again and you are away
I never rated Thompson.Scott Thompson might not have been A grader in your eyes but plenty would disagree when he was at the top of his powers...Ditto Rory Sloane.
Thommo was an excellent player and carried our midfield for a number of yearsI never rated Thompson.
Sloane however, just before the tagging started was definitely A grade.
He definitely had some great games.Thommo was an excellent player and carried our midfield for a number of years
