Do you want to turn 18 yo players over after 2 years ?

Do we need to factor in list balance / positional balance ?

All the Club has done, realistically, is taken minimal picks in a "thin" Draft .....other Clubs have traded out of this years Draft

Problem is ....people get seduced by all the pre-draft hype on draftee's ....and think we're missing out, by holding a "dud" player

Wasn't long ago, people were happy to delist / trade Fogarty .....Oh of course, no-one will admit to that now 🤣

You gotta give some time to young players to develop .....will Moose fall again to injury, or will 2023 be his year to breakout ? ......we all have diverse opinions on players
I countered this yesterday. We do not have list spots to take 2 players in this draft and we brought in pick 43, so clearly we are taking 2. So clearly we have got ourselves in a pickle and we have ****ed up.

None are your typical A grade midfield prospects obtained through missing finals and getting top ten picks.

Eg the likes of Walsh, Anderson, Rozee, Brayshaw (Freo), Serong, JHF, McCluggage, Callaghan, Petracca, Oliver, Smith, Bont, Taranto, LDU, Parish.. multiple every year really.
Soligo will be one of the best mids in the comp. Can't believe how many recruiters missed him.

my explanation-hope he plays well in year 1 of the contract-attracting interest-but hes still in contract then so worth more in a trade cos they knew then they wanted him gone but wanted a 2nd rounder
That worked out as well as getting pick 2 for Brad.

Don't give two year contracts to players that won't be chased by other clubs, no one is chasing our players at present

Yep, understand where you're coming from .....although some on this list are continually panned by supporters (Taranto, LDU, Parish, McCluggage) .....and I'm not seeing Anderson as "elite"

We haven't drafted that bigger, high talented Mid, as you're saying .....opting for Thilthorpe / Rachelle / Rankine

IMO though, there's more than one way to develop a team .....and it looks increasingly, that we're adopting a RICH style build .....lots of smaller, pressuring players, not a lot of big name players

Re-watched the Draft last night (background noise, whilst doing other things) ...... there was hardly a reaction when we Drafted Soligo .....crickets

It's not the final list lodgement yet, and won't be for a while.

I imagine we know exactly what we're doing, but there's probably some sensitivity around how we handle it. It's not like the Rowe announcement, which was obvious to everyone.

I'd be curious what F2 and 23 could get.

If clubs really don't value this year's draft, they could be interested in a package that gives them more next year.

Perhaps Melbourne at 13 or Sydney at 14?
This has been my push for a couple of weeks .....our F2 would have some real value

Not sure though, Phillipou drops past 12 at best

We didn't like it when everyone was chasing our players, we don't like it when nobody is chasing them ...

No .....the Club is all over the possible permutations .....it just hasn't been made public

I think the real chances to draft him would be Carlton at 10 or the Bulldogs at 11, and I don't think we can trade up that high.
Don't think the Club would pull a trade pick swap, unless they're very convinced the player would get to that pick .....and the talent order is still a moving beast

No what? Do we currently have a list spot for 43? We have to delist someone and move them to the rookie draft for it to happen. A consequence of not having list spots and poor list management. There is no arguing it unless you want to build an argument to try and defend the club.

All our list is contracted so it involves delisting a contracted player.

No contest ......Harry Himmelberg

Very mobile, arguably the best and longest kick at GWS ....played CHB, RUCK, and FF this year, so has enormous flexibility
So that’s what a half decent SC year does 😉

HH , stat padder Playing +1 or third banana picking up cheapie bombs in a Basket Case club and couldn’t lock down a door.

Cox, 2 years younger, better contested mark, can shut down a big forward and South Australian is our boy.

Bugger the flexible Jack of all trades , give me an A grade Def .

Moving player to the Rookie list is common with most Clubs now ....hell, we've had Butts and other cemented players sitting on the Rookie list now for a couple of years .....it means very little, it's in reality, one list of 44

Yes, I'll defend the Club .....until such time as they don't deserve it .....at this stage, I'm very happy with the rebuild and management .....and player development :)

You're sour, because you missed out on HH ;)

Hate him as a FWD ....lazy

But I'm also not high on Cox ....well, not as high as many others ....he fits into the DEF structure well, but he's still slow, and position restricted IMO

Cox showed plenty up forward as a junior before settling as a defender. But why does a KPD need to have other strings to their bow anyhow?

Is Cox playing KPD .....or 3rd Tall Role ?

Mostly, I see his positioning as being more pocket / flank ......happy to be wrong though ?

We will only be moving a contracted player to the rookie list because we have no list spots. Now lets say there was a delisted free agent we were after, how would we get him? We couldn't give Charmichael a contract because we have no list spots. Now lets say JHF did choose us, we would be giving up picks for next year and we have a heap of players we need to turn over, we'd be doing it with shit picks. We have given ourselves zero flexibility.

You can defend having contracted players you don't want playing SANFL all you want, but we have ****ed up having so many contracted players this year and so many uncontracted next year.

Well I picked him up just in time to get his score v North

In reality, this is because we have to upgrade two players from the Rookie List to the main list ......so what we're talking about is an exchange of players .....some coming off the rookie list, 1-2 going on

If there was a DFA we were chasing .....the room would be made .....it's a hypothetical, BUT, it's also the reason we haven't yet confirmed Turner as a Rookie .....keeping our options open

In reality, there's a small chance Seedsman plays ....every chance he retires ....and I'd move Crouch to the Rookie list as a "safe" option he's not poached, given his Contract ....but again, there hypotheticals

And the problem is? Salary cap? Not really an issue.

Or we don't elevate Strachen to the main list.
So you think this is all going to plan? Delisting a contracted player is a **** up, surely you can see that? No matter if we have the space.

I am staggered at the level of club cheerleading some of you come up with. Its clear we have ****ed up. Its okay to admit it.

So our strategy when we signed up these players in previous years is banking on a forced retirement due to a freak concussion?

If there was a DFA room would be made. By delisting a contracted player!!!! Crikey.

As for moving Crouch to the rookie list, wouldn't it have been smarter had he not been on the list ;) I can't wait for the weekly media circus, "Matt had another 42 possessions in the SANFL, when will he play? Nicks "he's very much a required player and valuable member of the team" "But you are not playing him"

How many times will Crouch be door stopped for comment?
