Carmichael had an 18month contract on his head Turner only 6, we only drafted him with the intention to beef up our SANFL side he will be delisted come seasons end.
If that the reason we picked him up we are a much stupider club than we give them credit for.

Gone are the days of us drafting for talent.

Always on the lookout for other criteria. How far can they run? Are they a good bloke? Is their family good? How long is their contract?

Seems our recruiters are so arrogant and stupid they don't believe there was anyone worth drafting in the MSD

Agreed we are putting too much weight in areas we shouldn't care about.

Should purely Focus on do they have great skills, and an ability to get their own ball

To make matters worse, surely there are better players in the SANFL to take than Turner if we wanted to strengthen our SANFL side.

He's not even in the top group of players at that level...
Surely this one decision has put the focus on Hamish internally. There’s a direct compassion that can be made.

The problem is we are stuck with him for at least this years draft

They want the good PR of winning the SANFL premiership, although they are ignoring the SANFL doing everything in their power to stop that from happening. They'll need to be way better than they are to defeat a team like North Adelaide or WWT in a grand final I'd say.

He's been very good the last couple of weeks, and off the pace yesterday.

We obviously thought any of the contracted players we'd have to cut to keep Carmichael on the list show more promise than he does. He was dropped after his game against us and was the sub today.

Wait - isn't that Turner?

Very good skills, can accumulate and plays multiple positions.

The club gives less than a single shit about this.

If they did, they wouldn't take multiple players interstate just to stay part of the team dynamic, or hold out players from the SANFL for any minor thing.

Folks on this board like to project every negative thing they can imagine onto the club.

Ben Davis is rookie listed and out of contract, surely Carmichael was better than him. He would get to stay on the rookie list.

In any case why would we bother taking a player at all if we don't think any of them are better than what we have? What was the point aside from strengthening our reserves (in which case why didn't we take a better player)?

Made the original 2022 SA State Squad for the annual game against WA and likely would have played bar for being out with injury at the time

Probably not his call. Directive from above.

Good position to win the SANFL flag and point to that as our rebuild on track. Good PR.

Weaken Glenelg and put in a mature body.

Surely we look at retiring Brown and Seedsman this year. We must have plenty of wriggle room in our salary cap. Possibly McPherson also.

Pay out McAsey's contract.

Trade Crouch for a bag of beans.

There's five list spots freed up for absolutely no harm to our on-field performances.
And Sloane. He was treacle before his injury and I can’t see that changing.

Think there's zero chance the club or Sloane go the retirement route after getting injured. Can almost guarantee he'll be like Tex in 2014 or whenever it was he came back from his ACL. One game in the SANFL and then right back in.

He won't play SANFL. He'll be lining up round 1 in the AFL

The only person who will decide when Rory Sloane retires is Rory Sloane.

He needs to max out on aerobics then, like Doughty did a couple of seasons before he retired, which gave him his best season.

Nah, I don’t buy it that we recruited for the SANFL. He just *ed up again

Agreed. If we picked someone on the basis to strengthen the SANFL side for the year we wouldn't have chosen someone who was already injured.

We usually give blokes a fair shake of the sauce bottle so I'm expecting he will get an extension at the end of the year.

Assuming he doesn't retire, I hope Nicks takes the approach he had with Sloane vs Richmond and makes him a full time half forward, the Murphy/McHenry role, while someone like maybe Nankervis develops. Should be better in that role for a year than who we currently have

He might look cooked nonetheless, but wait and see
