Assuming he doesn't retire, I hope Nicks takes the approach he had with Sloane vs Richmond and makes him a full time half forward, the Murphy/McHenry role, while someone like maybe Nankervis develops. Should be better in that role for a year than who we currently have

He might look cooked nonetheless, but wait and see
Sloane ain’t retiring, he was talking up playing during the week.

Hey Nank showed some fancy moves yesterday, he ultimately stuffed it up but clearly has skills!

Might need a few more years though.

Steady up, Sholl hasn't done a lot wrong for the type of player he is, lacks a little in the contested side of his game but he has skills in areas that we most certainly lack...wouldn't be writing him off just yet.
He's clearly out of favour ATM but you make a fair point.

There's others in the trade/delist queue ahead of him.

I can't see why Milera keeps his spot above Sholl.

Carmichael had an 18month contract on his head Turner only 6, we only drafted him with the intention to beef up our SANFL side he will be delisted come seasons end.
Whilst our drafting has been poor it was clear they didn't rate Carmichael over some of the kids available at this year's draft. If we picked him we would have either cut one of our current players they intend to keep, or drafted 1 less.

Turner doesn't impact list strategy at all

Then why pick Turner at all? He was injured and at best was going to play a couple of games if he was flying on his return

If an 18 month contract put us off then we are even more stupid than I thought. Plenty of clubs took on players with 18 month contracts at the MSD.

Our list management and decision making has been a disaster for years. How can we have such a tight list when we are still at ground zero?

Agreed. If we picked someone on the basis to strengthen the SANFL side for the year we wouldn't have chosen someone who was already injured.

We usually give blokes a fair shake of the sauce bottle so I'm expecting he will get an extension at the end of the year.
So an 18 month contract by default. Been suggested the 18 months was what put us off Carmichael.

Which SA lads at other clubs are out of contract? Rankine obviously. Caleb Poulter, Will Gould? Any others?

Even tho contracted, if Freo are trying to clear cap space for Jackson we should be all over Brennan Cox as well.

Even if his contract is heavily performance based he is not walking away from the money he would be on. It would have to be his last year but I think the main issue is both he and Tex have to be gone by the time we get a new coach.

Here’s a thought, would GC trade out their 1st pick this year (say pick 7) to Crows for our first rounder next year? subject to not being involved in any Grundy or JHF trade.

Two early first rounders this year to advance our rebuild before going after established players moving forward in following years.
Could snag Tsatas, Phillipou then hopefully Keeler & Max Micha in this draft….happy days!!

Ehh, I'd be keeping our first next year right now, at this stage it's probably another top 4 pick minimum

Carmichael kicking snags on the MCG and Turner with 10 possies in the reserves. Yep.
He has kicked his 4 goals in the last quarter of matches and all of them were big snags to help get the pies over the line . We will probably regret passing on him as he still has plenty of untapped potential. Even Teakle would have been a smarter play as he looks a more likely type than ROB

They can co exist.

I still have hope for Sholl.

Parnell has shown he can defend. If he can do that more, having a two way small defender is a great asset.

Hamill, Jones and Sholl in HB rotation. Parnell as our small defender

Yep, agree, I also have hope for Sholl to make it at AFL level, he has a natural knack of finding the ball and his disposal quality is typically AGrade. My view is Sholl needs some extra power to meet the tackling and 1 vs 1 contest requirements of AFL, and that's probably just a summer spent consuming protein powder, lifting weights with Fog and sleeping. Then repeat it again next summer.

If you could somehow get Cox that would be huge. Has turned into a bloody good defender. Would we be interested in Logue? Uncontracted as yet and a likely casualty perhaps if they sign Jackson.

If it lands us Horne Francis, absolutely
OK - not sure if he is enough bait. Are you talking about Doedee and Pick 3? Maybe. I think it would take something more than that myself ... which is why I didn't think trading him for less than his worth to us didn't make sense.

Correction, he's #6 for intercepts

It's not getting rid of him, it's finding a package that Norf would accept and they need experience.
He was #3, he just slipped to #4.

It's probably the most replaceable position in the team - high value and can be replaced. Seems perfect.
Is it? It's the most important role in a team according to the coaches.

Easy to replace with an average contributor, hard to find another Doedee.

I'm not saying we should or we shouldn't, but you have to give something to get something.

I've always been a Doedee fan, but a player with value in a position that can be more easily replaced than others may be a good option to trade, if the right offer came. Fact is we are in a massive hole with our list, it is probably league worst. We have to make some moves.

As some above have said - everyone is tradeable for the right result.

I don't think our list is league worst, but our midfield is where the hole is. JHF would change that, but not fix it. We need more than an individual, we need a proper mobile damaging ruckman and another good midfielder (if we land JHF) to either be dragged into the club or somehow emerge from compost.

Fogarty not signed beyond this season, now showing his wares and Melbourne hunting a key forward....
Yeah but overall Fog is pretty solid the last month and looking like he's taken the step that Nicksy was looking for. The club would have to be super confident in the future of Thilthorpe and Gollant to have the confidence to move on Fogarty in any trade. McAsey has clearly run into some challenges whether physical or mental. You'd forgive a 6'6" guy for still developing at 21yo but perhaps behind plan compared to similar sized/aged guys at other clubs around the AFL.

But there's 3 youngish forwards there with good potential and probably could move forward with 2... so maybe trade one if North Melbourne wanted a TallForward & 1st Round Pick & Steak Knives Midfielder in a swap for JHF, it'd work?

Because we hang onto spuds and are scared to move a player on. Roo and Reid have no frickin clue what they are doing. Add in Ogilvie and you have the 3 stooges.
