Here’s a thought, would GC trade out their 1st pick this year (say pick 7) to Crows for our first rounder next year? subject to not being involved in any Grundy or JHF trade.

Two early first rounders this year to advance our rebuild before going after established players moving forward in following years.
Could snag Tsatas, Phillipou then hopefully Keeler & Max Micha in this draft….happy days!!
That's the kind of out of the square thinking the club needs to embrace. Gold Coast are probably interested in spreading out their 2022 draft picks into future years given how much promising young talent they are trying to squeeze into their 22. They can also get Brisbane's first rounder this draft by swapping them some second and third rounders.

Many of us think we are bottom three next year so we know what we're likely giving up. If the club actually believes it's own propaganda about our rebuild, they would think they're putting up a pick 7-10.

I'm all for getting more 2022 picks in lieu of 2023 picks, we need to do something NOW!

He has kicked his 4 goals in the last quarter of matches and all of them were big snags to help get the pies over the line . We will probably regret passing on him as he still has plenty of untapped potential. Even Teakle would have been a smarter play as he looks a more likely type than ROB
We all knew that BEFORE the MSD. The AFC unfortunately is populated by brainless morons

If you could somehow get Cox that would be huge. Has turned into a bloody good defender. Would we be interested in Logue? Uncontracted as yet and a likely casualty perhaps if they sign Jackson.
Cox a WWT boy, he'd be coming home and is a seriously good defender, just doesn't get the plaudits of Vic based players.

Logue is a WA local, much much harder to lure to our rebuild.

So with a warchest we should be targeting, Cox, JHF, Rankine. Some lesser lights like Gould and Poulter as well.

OK - not sure if he is enough bait. Are you talking about Doedee and Pick 3? Maybe. I think it would take something more than that myself ... which is why I didn't think trading him for less than his worth to us didn't make sense.

He was #3, he just slipped to #4.
I had a look at another table Doedee has risen to Number 1 for fumbles and Number 1 for losing his feet

I've wondered that ...

Is he a need? That means dropping Butts or Murray unless we plan on playing 3 talls.

Cox is in another league to Murray. He’s your modern day prototypical CHB. Doesn’t just shut down his man but intercepts and is a very good user of the ball. He’s contracted so likely Freo would want a high pick to pass onto Melbourne, that makes it a non starter for a team like us. But replacing Murray with Cox would immediately make us a better team

We need a quality key defender, then we can let Butts & Murray fight it out for the other spot... or play all 3 if Doedee is in poor form still.

People might disagree, but to be perfectly honest, I reckon you could swap Doedee and Frampton and we wouldn’t lose anything, in fact Framptons skills prob make us better off.

No doubt he is at this point in time given their individual experience at AFL level.

Murray seems to be developing nicely to my eye and IMO draft resources that would be required to secure Brennan Cox (contracted until 2024) would be better spent in other areas.

We are into Cox and should be but maybe Nicks should have a look at the Freo structure. They have Pearce and Cox as your 2 x key position backs just like Nurray and Butts. Freo then play Chapman as a fast mid size (193) back (Worrell) who also intercept, and the Young at 190cm, same as Doedee as a sweeper.

Nicks, if you played Worrell it could work you know!!

I don’t think Murray is ever going to become that elite, intercepting, play making CHB. That said he’s fine for now and I agree that resources are best spent elsewhere. All of this could of been avoided of course if McAsey had become the player we drafted him to be. But now it’s just yet another position we have to fill due to diabolically bad drafting.

Except that Doedee is playing like a dour KPD at the moment, when we already have two of those with basically zero creativity/intercept capabilities. I’m not enjoying the Butts/Murray/Doedee combo at the moment, mostly due to Doedee being relatively sh!t
