If you could somehow get Cox that would be huge. Has turned into a bloody good defender. Would we be interested in Logue? Uncontracted as yet and a likely casualty perhaps if they sign Jackson.
Definitely Logue over Cox ....Cox is rated one of the best 3rd DEF this year ....great role player, but not a type we need TBH

Logue's best football this year, has occurred since he moved fwd .....if he were available, take him as a fwd

We have Fog , TT and Gollant ... plus Walker for 1 more .

Cox is exactly the type we need and is instantly our best defender .

Incorrect ....Cox has had a good year, I agree .....it's natural to rate opposition club players better than incumbents, because we haven't scrutinised the oppo player as intensley

Suggest you watch a few of Cox's games ......he's still very slow, as was the negative on him, when drafted

We are into Cox and should be but maybe Nicks should have a look at the Freo structure. They have Pearce and Cox as your 2 x key position backs just like Nurray and Butts. Freo then play Chapman as a fast mid size (193) back (Worrell) who also intercept, and the Young at 190cm, same as Doedee as a sweeper.

Nicks, if you played Worrell it could work you know!!

Lel, you comparing the left leg and footy iq of Young with doedee who has horrible decision making, can’t keep his feet and 9 irons his kicks ?

Can concur. Too slow, very poor user of the ball, really awful contested mark, really poor 1on1 too. No way you guys want him.

He never use to, was a very good kick, stayed on his feet and was creative. He was when we had Kelly in there as a genuine 3rd defender. He left, we made Doedee play 3rd defender rather than sweeper and he has gone to shit.

Is he a need? That means dropping Butts or Murray unless we plan on playing 3 talls.
He's definitely a need. Murray and Cox would be a good combo with Butts as depth. The problem with Butts is that he is purely a shutdown defender and doesn't have any offensive side to his game plus his kicking is not good. We also need another interceptor as well if Doedee keeps his current form.

Anyways for what its worth you guys tried hard for him last year when he had one year left on his contract but he knocked it back and signed for a further two years on top of that.

Is it weird of me to say that I think Murray has more upside than Butts?

Just musing, if we really want hopper, could we downgrade our 1st by a pick or 2 with GWS and throw in a 2nd rounder to get the deal done?. I am assuming we have pick 3 and theirs is 4 or 5 so we dont drop too far but enough for tgem to take their pick of the players

McAsey has scarred me with pick downgrades for the next few years, at least. I know we'd be getting Hopper too but I want the best chance at top, top-end talent

Carmichael had an 18month contract on his head Turner only 6, we only drafted him with the intention to beef up our SANFL side he will be delisted come seasons end.

Smart stuff to ignore a 2nd round quality mid for nothing in favour of beefing up the SANFL side. That’s how we rebuild here at the AFC.

Maybe we still get the player we were after at 5 as much as 3 and then hopper has cost us a 2nd in that scenario. He would really add to our midfield
That is true, getting Hopper instead of another first (as with McAsey/Pedlar deal) would be better for us

That said, I think we're a very long shot at Hopper, anyway

Is it just me or does it feel like our players are constantly falling over

It’s not just his fumbling and falling over that’s the problem, he’s having arguably his worst year across most his stats since his debut in 2018, aside from his injury 2019..
