Hes allowed to purchase a property in Melbourne, so his partner has a nice place, knowing he will eventually be living there. If he indeed sold his Perth house with a year on his Perth based contract still pending, well..... I guess hes renting now or maybe he could live in one of Colons houses?
I thought this too, and the media can generate what ever story they want out of it. Someone’s leaking the stories though.

It’s an absolute shame trade talks now contaminate teams before the finals are over.

Got he really is an ugly mofo inside and out

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with all this talking about colin behind his back.

allow me to defend this unfairly persecuted individual, in his place if you will.

You guys are cooked.

the full character assassinations of our players is a bit…off, tbh.

if Logan McDonald announced he wanted to come to Freo your hand would be on your zippers quicker than Wyatt Earp could draw a gun

But would he steal the top secret documents from the Swans??

And does he need a Farm before he Becomes Old McDonald?

I don't buy the whole trade to Melbourne for his girlfriend thing?

He requested a trade to GWS last year.

Now the Bulldogs.

He's hunting money, not a destination, otherwise the destination wouldn't change.

Sydney to Melbourne takes an hour, I'm guessing GWS were the only suitors last year.

  • to Colin Young - your modus of negotiating in public, presenting the club a fiat accompli destination for your want away CONTRACTED mercenary client IS NOT GOING TO ******* FLY.

Is the accompli a new Australian model?

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I totally agree with you, btw. Lol.

I am more concerned Jackson is coming in on too much money, and for too many draft picks than meek logue, lobb, Acres and co are leaving.

I don't see what he brings to our side. Watching Geelong last night confirmed you don't spend 1.4 mill on two rucks.

It does confirm topping up in b graders helps once you have enough A graders.

He’s not a ruckman. He will do 30% of the rucking, I think often less.

I think he’s a utility who can improve us in a number of areas, including at stoppages by providing a big body who has genuine two-way ability, allowing Serong, Brayshaw, Fyfe and Brodie to be more aggressive. Andy’s CP and clearance numbers have plateaued and that’s partially because he often has to play the defensive role at stoppages.

Away from stoppages, he’ll have a bit of a license to roam and become a link in transition or a forward target, using his height against shorter midfielders or his athleticism against ruck opponents.

I should add, I think these roles are exactly what Melbourne envisaged over the coming years, it’s just that they probably have less of a pressing need than we do. They have contested beasts in the middle, whereas we have an aging Fyfe and Will ‘70%’ Brodie. Where once we were the league leaders in big bodied midfielders, we now have 184cm Brayshaw and 178cm Serong. We probably want Jackson playing some midfield minutes from round 1.

I heard a small bit of gossip that some players weren’t on the same page as everyone else around the middle of the year.
Dismissed it, as on the field we looked united.
Have to say there was some truth in it now, and the best way forward is just to
cut out these tumours.
Obviously many are happy here and we appear to pay overs.
I want Lobb gone, and what GWS did with MCCarthy I’d like to think we are
better than that.
The rot starts at the head? Something doesn’t add up, and these sort of things
snowball very quickly to derail the incoming season.
Bulldogs will give up a first for Lobb, just get it done.
As for Bell? Good to see Joel Corey promoted, no nonsense bloke and hard worker.

I am not sure that role is worth 700k plus and two first round picks.

To me he looks like another Lobb. The anti moneyball player.

I don’t know about anyone else. But he reminds me of Ryan Murphy, dominated WAFL playing a long straight leading forward. Don’t think he’ll be an AFL star.

Lobb is obviously frustrated at his trade request denial. The club had 12 months to prepare, and would have entertained it if Griffin Logue had not requested a trade to North. They said so, right.

So now it's gotten real awkward for everyone. As it stands, the club needs Lobb up front in 2023 and are totally within their right to hold onto him.

But keeping him around a disgruntled, want-away Lobb is going to cause friction among the playing group and resentment within the members and fans.

It's a tough situation, but if the Bulldogs present a fair offer, we should probably cut him loose for the sake of everyone's sanity.

I think we just do the Lobb trade. Two years in a row with the requests, he stuck it out and played some decent football this year despite not getting what he wanted. Lobb has always struck me as someone who sees football as a job - can’t imagine him going back to Swan Districts and kicking around if his career ended tomorrow. He’s 29 and probably wants to take the next steps in his life. It’s not the full benefit of the contract obviously but the trade off we have for him being contracted another year is the ability to drive a harder bargain, because we can always keep him if we don’t like the offer. By coming out hard and saying we won’t trade him, we’re probs setting ourselves up for that. Structurally it’s frustrating but it is what it is. I’d rather not have someone who doesn’t want to be here.

I agree with the sentiment, but then Jye Amiss and Matthew Taberner would be our lone forward focal points, with Joshua Treacy as depth. Yikes!! :eekv1:
