For sure going by that description
I've never seen any footage of him and for all I know it was written by his mum. But I'll be pissed off if someone else takes him first and furious if Hine passes on him.

Wow, bigger pool than I imagined.

Others have mentioned him previously… but I’m now on the Mutaz El Nour bandwagon

192cm defender averaging 18.7 disposals and 6.5 marks… Solid stats down back this year at Preston

Seems a good kid. Fits a list need as far as mid sized defenders go. And we have a strong connection to him as the article outlines

Meanwhile, clubs will use a Fitzroy Cubs exhibition match against Carlton's VFL side this weekend to scout some of the best overage Indigenous and multicultural talent ahead of the mid-season draft.

Northern Bullants defender Mutaz El Nour has caught the eye of AFL recruiters and is currently listed to play in the game, having averaged 18.7 disposals and 6.5 marks per game to start this season's VFL campaign.

The Fitzroy Cubs is a talent program directed at 18-to-23-year-olds of Indigenous and multicultural descent who have been overlooked in their draft year, giving them the chance to play in front of both AFL and VFL recruiters.

Yeah, huge fan. Would be a great pick for the club, but as an intercept player, could be seen as a potential Howe replacement down the track, on the cheap. Love his attitude, and already has the connection as the article you posted says.

I've never seen any of them play, but if we pick El Nour over Culley, I'll spew up.

Edit: I might have seen El Nour - is he the bloke who Poulter kept kicking it to in a VFL match at the start of the year?
Doubt Culley will be there with our pick.
Not sure…didn’t watch that game.

I remember El Nour had a field day in the first half of our game against the Northern Bullants earlier this season, intercepting everything that came his way (playing CHB, I think), and I felt he was keeping them in the game. I'd have "signed him on the spot" at half-time if we could have done! He finished the game with 18 disposals, 9 marks and 1 tackle, though wasn't as prominent in the second half, as we got right on top. On the Bullants' website he was named their second best player.

I don't think we'll be getting Culley. It's hard to see him getting past the first one or two picks, and with two more teams (currently below us) becoming eligible to take a player in just the last few days the competition is getting tougher!

Lets take El Nour then - play him forward - he had a great connection with Poulter. I'd like us to get Jeremy Macgovern and play him forward for the same reason - he's just always had a great connection with our whole team.

I remember a Sudanese guy playing for our VFL team, I thought it was a year or two earlier than 2020 though

That was Jok and was Rookied by Essendon at end of the Year and only played 1 AFL Game and that was Against us and was De-Listed after 1 Season

I think our selection will come from left field again. What have we had now 2 mid season drafts?
We got Noble in the first with him not being really considered on this board.
Then Johnson & Begg last year who probably surprised most of us as well.
Dekka probably has his eye on somebody not previously considered on this board.
