Can you tell us a bit about them manicpie?
Sebit is 197cm Sudanise and only 75kg but is very athletic and has huge hands which make him a great contested mark. He has kicked 11 goals so far this season in 4 or 5 matches.
Frazer McInnes is getting on a bit but is a good solid forward at 197cm and 95kg, leads the WAFL goal kicking and can also play in defence

Are a super-competitive, gorilla of a first-possession mid, or a quick, tackling goalsneak anymore likely than a useful tall full back or full forward?

I'd say so. Easier to find the smalls than the talls.

Jai Culley is widely regarded to go in the first couple and fits this bill. 193cm, 87Kgs

Jai Culley (Dandenong Stingrays) VrS Vic Metro

Blew Vic Metro away in the first half as he proved far too strong for their midfielders, shrugging tackles, stepping through traffic and hitting packs hard. Took a couple of big contested marks and lay an enormous tackle on Ben Hempel as his superior physicality proved telling. His raking kick that he has previously shown was highlighted by a 55 metre running goal in the second quarter, one of his four first half goals. High on confidence, he got the give off from a teammate lining up for a set shot from outside 50 and made the distance comfortably – albeit inaccurately – in the third stanza. He also set up teammates, a darting bullet pass finding Max Ramsden inside 50 late in the second quarter, and lowered his eyes on multiple occasions, including a short 15 metre pass in the last quarter to Harvey Gallagher who was waiting 40 metres out. Fell out of it after the main break in his first game since round two of the NAB League, but he was undoubtedly the player that set the platform for a comprehensive win.

2019 mid season draft looks like a 2 out of 13 hit rate - Noble and Marion Pickett. I've probably missed someone. Too early to say regarding last year. They're the only 2 drafts of the current format.

I don't think you can be selective with player type. If you get a player from it, you've done really well. Just go best available.

Will Snelling been ok for Essendon

So 8 players have been granted exemptions to nominate for the MSD. The eight are Jake Florenca, James Blanck, Kallan Dawson, Wade Derksen, Zac Strom, Brett Turner, Liam Reidy
and Kim Kantilla. It looks like a few of those guys are key positions at both ends of the ground.

nice mover and user, 191cm, 86 Kgs and 23 years old

As highlights go, this is pretty impressive- great hands and backs himself - funny if he was 196cm+ everyone would probably be all over him

That said, at 22 has the build and probably better than half the players we have at the moment

Just play him!

For us it really is operation gets KPP from anywhere around Australia, through Mid, end and Pre season whatever it takes to grab half dozen and hope 2-3 make it through, when you think of it, that’s been our strategy with smalls

For sure, best available.

Just wondering what types of potential 'best 25's' might be most realistic.

He was last year. Don't yet know how percentage of hits will work out from last year's one.

In the long run, I expect the mid season draft will end up with slightly higher hit rates than the end of year rookie draft. Slightly higher because you'll get some kids who do enough in the first half of the year that they'd be taken in the national draft, whereas all the players taken in the rookie have just been passed over in a national draft.

Lieu looks alright.

Crucially he, Baker, El Nour all look to be very agile and mobile, able to aerially intercept AND rebound it quickly… which has been the knock on Murphy, Madgen, and further back scharenberg who all move like shopping trolleys in comparison to these kids

Outside of perhaps a man on man fullback… the modern game now demands a high degree of agility and mobility from all 190cm plus defenders
I like the look of Lieu. He's got something. Nice size, nice skills and uses his body well. Maybe one for the Madge knockers??

Ryan Gardiner for Bulldogs and Will Snelling for Essendon have been pretty good and get regular games, I think they were both taken in the 2019 mid season draft

I didnt include Gardner because he's very much depth rather than a genuine senior player. I haven't really paid any attention to Snelling, but probably one I missed.
