Carmichael is a mid but is also more likely to make jump to AFL standard.
I also disagree with the whole we don't need any more mids. We need more in and under mids as apart from T Adams we have C Brown and Reef.
I think we have a need for an additional in and under as C Brown isn't top 22 material. I would advocate to use our second pick on Dozzi and see how he fits into the club and develops.

Carmichael is an interesting one. Good size, hits the scoreboard, still only 22. Could be good.

You're setting a low bar for doing well in the AFL.

He is not been "extremely dominant", he has had a couple of good games. Which is what he should be doing given where he was picked. But that is absolutely no reason to not pick up another young midfielder if we rate him highly.

The midfield is my biggest area of concern going forward. Alot is riding on the development of McCrea and McInnes. We have been smashed in clearances all year and have very little depth. When we get an injury or 2 we are relying on the Brown brothers to be part of our rotations. Add to this the age of Adams, Pendles and Sidey we need to add more depth and soon!

Nick Daicos and Patrick Lipisinki are mids too and don't forget Fin Macrae and Jack Crisp
 
Key forward is still my biggest issue then a KPD then a mid but if Derksen falls to us nobody who else is there WE TAKE HIM

They're trying to turn him into an inside mid. He's slowly improving, but is still generally second to the ball around stoppage. Hasn't got much ball at all in the first half of games, but has been getting it a lot, mainly on the spread, in the second half - I'd question whether that is due to the game slowing down. "Extremely dominant" isn't even hyperbole - it's just wrong.

Played very well against Weribree having 28 touches and 4 tackles I would say he is ready and also a great way to develop players is by playing them in the AFL and even without Macrae we still have good depth and developing mids we don't need Carmichael

Whenever I've watched the VFL this year, either Callum Brown or Tyler Brown have been far and away our best mid - not including when Tardrew goes through there, as he's not on our list. The other mids on our list haven't even be close. I have missed the last couple of games - nice if Macrae is improving, but I'd be surprised if you're not massively glossing his performance.

Was highly rated in his draft year, one of the more talked about KPP's but was part of the Lions academy. From memory he was progressing well in the 2's, and I wonder if his development in 2020/2021 was stalled with the Covid situation?

I'd prefer Derksen personally, younger and has a clear role as a KPF to develop in to. Compare that to Ballenden who will be that RUC/FWD type where he's not really elite in either, and already having Cameron (along with Begg developing) I'd rather either a young, genuine ruck or a pure KPF prospect.

I keep telling you all Derksen is the only one who suits us he is a key forward and you people seem to forget THAT'S OUR MAIN ISSUE
