I think I would have drafted him even with a bad attitude that talent level just too good to ignore, I said yesterday I am happy with Carmichael and I am but some of the things he did on that reel were just sublime a word used far too often but fair enough to describe him.

Speed agility leap and kicking it is all there I am going to follow his career with interest I can tell you.

usually in a 90 second video, i'm bored halfway through. That kid provided 4 minutes....

The only reason which is half legitimate is that he's from perth with strong ties to his family....i cant think of anything else that's even remotely legitimate not to take him and i'm not just talking about the pies...other clubs too. THe only thing about our choice is that he's a good choice. He has a good chance of making it.

The sudanese kids are a gold mine. I have no idea why we are scratching away in ireland. I hope that ends.

Some quality melts on the Essendopers board abount picking a small rather than Carmichael:

Pre MSD:
My 1st choice is a big mid, Culley or Carmichael.
2nd choice is a ready to play small forward.
D'Ambrossio wouldn't mind either but the backline is not an area of need.
Culley as the high upside 19 year old, 22 year old Carmichael with form against men whilst D'Ambrosia could be the small defender we want. I doubt we go D'Ambrosia but who knows..
Culley firming for WC unfortunately. Turn to Carmichael now
I’d love us to take Charmicheal but knowing our list manager he will take Kantilla. Which I actually have no dramas with given our small forward stocks. I also would love Derkson as our list needs as much talent as it can get.
This is a big reason why I am forming for Carmichael.
Culley was already in the system last year and was overlooked. He hasn’t all of a sudden transitioned into this superstar that HAS to be picked. Carmichael was playing club footy 18 months ago and did really well at state league level. Sound familiar.
Carmichael is on a better trajectory than Culley imho
I think Carmichael is more outside than people assume. I watched the state game and he played a lot of wing and was quite uncontested. His kicking was great though and he hit the scoreboard.
This is reflected in his SANFL stats, his clearance numbers are good but not great. He has fewer clearances than 19 year old Oliver Davis.
He will fit in as a good, tough wing and would likely add to our best 22.
Culley/Carmichael & a small forward please RFK.

Post Eagles Pick:
Bugger. Carmichael now please
Ok Carmichael to Essendon. Cmon Dodoro.

Post Dons Pick:
duck this club
lol
We're dumb

Why haven't we fired Dorodo
What's our obsession with Richmond reserves?
Of course we do. Since when have we had an issue recruiting HBs?
Another midget. FFS! I'm done with this club
Carmichael could slide to our pick 18….
We had Carmichael locked in but then D’Ambrosio played for Richmond’s VFL team

Post Pies Pick:
Collingwood selects Carmichael because Collingwood know how to build a midfield.
What a ******* suprise we leave the inside mid for Collingwood, not like they've already drafted half the best mids in the last decade.

Post Dons 2nd Pick:
ANOTHER ******* MIDGET
I really hope Carmichael kills it at Collingwood and proves you wrong.
Seriously, wake up. I've been somewhat of a defender of Dodoro but this has been a blindspot of his for a long time
I did really like the rise of Carmichael though, I see plenty of upside considering he was playing country footy just last year.
Unpopular opinion: I wouldn’t be drafting Carmichael with the intention to play him inside, I’d be looking at a big, physical winger that can run the tram lines and take a mark
Everybody complaining about passing on the inside mids obviously aren't caught up on the trade and free agency thread. Folks in there have already recruited both Brayshaw and Dunkley so let's cool our jets OK we're covered.
I don't get it - their kid looks really good.

watching it again I cannot believe he is not pick 1 that talent level is Franklin and Ablett sen level he may never reach those levels but he is starting out at those levels. That move where he he beat 2 players in 2 mtrs and then kicked 50- mtrs to the square ridiculous.
Remind me to listen to you in future, J would love to know if that highlights package was available before the draft.
Agree - phenomenal talent.
He hasn’t got X factor he’s got XXXX factor.
Must be something amiss ie he doesn’t want to leave WA. There can be no other explanation for so many clubs passing on such an amazing talent.
Of WA clubs have again “hidden away” a potential star.

Can comfortably say that is definitely not the case
Given some of your posts here over the journey, I’m not sure you’re the best person to make that judgement call.

In fact I’m sure you’re not.

FMD. I rarely watch any WAFL footy, so didn’t know much about him.

Obviously raw, but this is a ridiculously good highlight reel.

What the absolute …

Jesus, that was incredible. Arguably the greatest highlight reel I’ve seen.

He might not get the size, but you think he would be amazing on the wing.

i have a feeling there was a risk moving him to Melbourne from Perth, all his family and friends are there and there might have been a bit of doubt about the go home factor

Liam Ryan's highlight reel was also off the charts and noone touched him after his first year of slaying them in the WAAFL.

What comp was he playing?

Does anyone know who those magpiebat and mattys123 clowns are on Twitter. They just spend all day either bagging the pies (their own club) or ridiculing their fellow pie fans for being idiots

The irony is they are probably just struggling battlers themselves unaware of their own limitations

Mate mattys123 and MagpieBat are part of the fabric of this forum and been fantastic contributors over the years. A bit of respect is due.

Macrae just needs to be more composed and fix up his ball use.
Chuggy was the only mid who got votes. Along with Beggy.

Macrae’s issues run a little deeper than that imho. His work rate is shocking, especially his defensive application. Poulter not too dissimilar. Both still have time but things need to start improving soon.

Begg on the other hand gives 110%, never stops trying. Much more confident he’ll be a player.

Happily back their views over 2/3’s of the posters on our BF board.
