Hopefully we can turn the Ellis-Yolmen situation into a little bonus. I wouldn’t have thought this took the club completely by surprise, so they may already have some ideas.

I would imagine all clubs have a list of possibles and maybes that they can go to at times like this.

I heard hippy got mad and started swinging his arms around like a baby giraffe. He hit matho right in the snout but said "nuthins personal kid" afterwards so it's ok

another big bodied midfielder would be good.

Any thoughts/opinion that it appears none of the academy kids are training with the senior team?

Personally I find it disappointing potentially on two fronts.

1. That the best academy kids aren’t getting the chance to train with the senior team, regardless if the club views them as draftable or not.

2. That it might be an indication that the club doesn’t view any of this years academy prospects as potentially draftable.
Could it be a covid thing and the club just being cautious.

Get to pay him less money as a result too (think the payment for the inactive list is 25% of the CBA minimum salary). Honestly the best result taking a very cold look at it.

On the other hand I wish this hadn’t happened and cam had chosen to get vaccinated.
Under the AFL's vaccination policy, clubs can transfer players who fail to meet the requirements to the inactive list and pay them the minimum base salary under the players' collective bargaining agreement.

Clubs can also choose to keep a player on the list and pay them not less than 25 per cent of the minimum base salary.
The club can also terminate a player's contract with their agreement or, from May 18 this year, exercise any legal rights it may have to terminate a contract.

I wonder if we promote someone like Wyllie Buzza for a bit more cover with the tall forwards.
Is a better one floating round somewhere. Anybody know where Hammelman is playing this year?

Edit: I know I bang on about this quite a bit. Just blows my mind he cant get a look in somewhere. A team like Richmond for instance is going into a season widely regarded as their last roll of the dice, with an ageing Riewoldt and an injury prone Lynch. That's it. No backup, spare half a dozen ruck types and a couple of guys who 'might' be able to play forward in Miller and Balta.

Having him on the inactive list and freeing up a spot is already a bonus. It’s the greatest value he’s added to the club

At these infection rates (and you have to assume the actual number is two to three times greater than being reported), how long till everyone has had it anyway? Three months? Four Months?
The rate of infection slows as the number of cases increases - fewer people left to infect.

Note - people can get it twice but it's a small number who do and they typically carry a lower vital load and infect less people.

Not everyone's going to get it in a given wave, or any given wave.

If you're regional, or you don't go out to high risk areas (nightclubs, etc), or various other risk factors, you may last many waves, though most likely at some point you'll get unlucky - but it could be many months.

We’re flying out to Vietnam next Friday. Omicron just landed there a fortnight before us.

Yep, I agree with both points you're making.

Would love to know the actual infection numbers over the last few weeks though. Before Christmas I was still at a stage where the number of people I knew that had contracted covid I could count on one hand (and that includes a nurse who intentionally infected herself).

Fast forward to now, I have friends on the Gold Coast who pretty much don't know anyone who isn't sick (but they are unable to be tested, or unwilling to spend half a day queueing), so many of my suppliers at work can't give me timelines on jobs right now because they have no staff.

Shortly after the emergence of the Omicron strain the Doherty Institute modelling showed a chance of 200k infections a day, which I & probably most of us scoffed at. Wouldn't surprise me if we hit that number over the last couple of weeks. But yes, obviously the more people that get it, the more the rate of infection will slow.

I am triple jabbed and lead a hermit life somewhat similar to Luke Skywalker in 'The Force Awakens'. Confident I'll be one of the late adopters, but who knows.

Having now seen that CEY is an NFT dude my prior sadness at the situation has vanished.
God I hate those Non-Fungible Tokens

Last 24 hours in QLD - 37,121 tests for 16,031 new cases.

Looking at those statistics with just on 80% of the population fully vaccinated and approaching 91% of currently eligible population fully vaccinated most of the transmission you would expect is coming from the vaccinated population.

I know he is not like for like but I would look at Marty Hore. Good one on one and a penatrating kicker from halfback. Absolutly tore it apart in the VFL for Collingwood before Melbourne drafted him. Unlucky with injury and the rise of the Dees making it hard to force his way back in. Training with North in a bit to secure their final list spot. As a disclaimer I have known him since he was born as he grew up down the road and can attest to his fine character. Hard to find a nicer more humble young man. Has worked his arse off for his opportunities. I know we may have other halfback plans this year but i think he could fill the Birchall role quite well. Thoughts?

Well if we did choose him or any other half-back as our replacement player, we can pretty much forget about the Zorko going down back I reckon.
