Cerra for Setterfield.

Watching the reply in more detail, Setters was ok but I think LOB has been slightly better over the 2 rounds and seems like a more specialised winger to me.

Cerra coming in and guys like Walsh/Hewett spending a little bit more time on the wing to replace Setterfield makes us stronger.
Let me ask you a a kind of 2 part question because I want to see someone who's advocating for setters as an out rationale...

We ran out of legs vs the dogs and TDK was invisible most of the game. Why would he not move out for Cerra against a team we don't need two rucks against? This helps with the running out of legs issue and let's Setterfield continue his growth and success as a defensive winger. Setters is actually setting running benchmarks. Something that's going unnoticed. He's not getting beaten at all on his wing either. He was probably best on for us or close to it in the tight and fast first quarter and just continued to play well the rest of the game. Just curious on the thoughts as to why we carry TDK and run out of legs vs fitting in midfielders and not dropping ones who deserve to stay in the team.

It'll be a very interesting set of selections next week (assuming no other COVID-related omissions/other injuries). Wonder what Vossy and crew see as our best midfield + wing mix?

Well, part of it is under the assumption the coaches like the structure we have in terms of talls vs smalls. So far this year the coaches have spoken a lot about roles...it's not just about who's performing best sometimes, they have to fit the system and structure.

I agree TDK hasn't set the world on fire, but he is filling a role.

He's done quite well in his stints in the ruck and the combo of him and Pitto is helping us get the ascendency at stoppages. This allows JSOS to stay forward. Up forward, while it would be nice for him to hit the scoreboard more, he is providing a target. He's already taken a few good marks this year or at the very least brought the ball to ground. A number of times I've seen McKay and JSOS been the ones to push onto the wings to give us a target, then they kick it to TDK at half forward.

I do get your point though and personally wouldn't be bothered if we went smaller with Cerra replacing TDK and JSOS pinch hitting in the ruck.

If the coaches want to keep the ratio, I think Setterfield is the unlucky one. I also think the likes of Hewett/Walsh covering that wing position instead of replacing a small forward makes sense, they'd be better at it.

What leads you to believe we don't need a second ruck against Hawthorn?

Interesting, those looking at Newman to get dropped, how does Williams not come into your line of thinking?
Is it purely based on us paying him $900,000 a year?

He was cleaning up other people's fumbly messes for most of the game - doing the hard gritty stuff that goes mostly unnoticed as people focus on who kicks goals and the midfield. Instrumental in 4-5 excellent kicks starting rebound moves from back pocket/HBF and spent most of second half mopping up. As for your what he is being paid comment- you would have as much clue as I would- and I am not only uninterested but also -clueless.

Well argued but ...

I think we missed the run of Cerra and Martin's defensive impact and midfield rotation capability in the second half against one of the hardest running outfits on a fast deck - neither Fisher nor Setterfield were convincing CB options in their cameo appearances. and TDK was put in when both were being used. As for his lack of impact in forward line- someone was doing enough to give Charlie and Harry enough space to kick 9 between them.

Fitness side- it is going to be a yo-yo discussion involving LoB/Setterfield/Newman V alternatives as they come back into consideration from injury - all year.

If we are going to make like for like changes, Cerra comes in for LOB and Walsh plays "attacking wing" and Martin comes in for Fogarty.
I can see us making just the one change, unless OMac is injured, with Cerra in for Fogarty

Agree with you however you can't tell me you see 120mins of intensity in his game.

Imagine how much better he can be when he offers that. We need to get to that point
But he is a game breaker, burst player. They don’t go all day however, they are crucial for team balance. We have monsters and accumulators, you do you, Jack.

Could it maybe be that he had 9 score involvements, equal to Harry and more than any other player bar Cripps?

Compared with Newman, had more possessions, was more contested, was more effective, had less clangers...
How are you comparing them?

Williams had an outstanding game. Defensively, offensively, efficiency, contested. Did a bit of everything and did it all well.
