Can’t remember where I heard it but I consider it fact.
All I know for a fact was that both he and his partner's 1st preference was to stay in Adelaide.

Strange that Adelaide had a 2 year contract on the table all that time.

Obviously he was looking for a longer tenure...

I’m pretty sure it was Brads preference to stay in Adelaide too.
Bit of difference though they withdrew the contract offer they had on the table with Brad...they always had a 2 year contract on the table which Matt eventually signed.

Poor list management whatever way you slice it.

I don’t recall that. Could be my memory failing me, but I don’t remember it that way. My recollection is that they went out to market, got nothing, and eventually settled on a low priced 2 year deal with us

They said he won’t be offered a further contract after 2023. It was already plainly obvious he will be moved on at seasons end, Nicks was just making sure we get nothing for him. We may end up giving a 3rd round pick with him for a 7th rounder to get him out of here.
Regardless of what gets reported by the news, teams generally don't get good returns on players who've been dropped as often as Crouch has this year.

You’re assuming the exchange between Nicks and Crouch actually happened

Its a bit of damned if we do and damned if we don't with him. If we don't play him and just let him sit in the SANFL side then his value is rock bottom and we will be lucky to get anyone wanting to take him on. If we played him for the last block of games with an eye to having him get a swag of stats it might boost his value but it takes valuable game time away from one of the younger mids and we all saw how Berry thrived on the weekend - particularly in the 2nd quarter. Play the kids and they will show you what they can do

No doubt the better option for the club moving forward is to not deny the kids their chance for game time even if it means we get almost nothing for Matt and we just wear it. A tick for list management if that is the case.

And I would put on record that I think Matt has been a very good player for us for a number of years and its just that we need a different style of player in the guts rather than a pure accumulator. So I wish him well wherever he ends up playing in the future.

Spot on, and tbh I think he’s still got some trade value if we chip in for his wages.

You’re speaking to a majority group of perpetual naysayers here mate. If you’re looking for constructive criticism, you won’t find it here. Grown men throwing the toys out of the pram at every literally any opportunity. I’m just waiting for someone to blame this on the camp, Trigg, or Ricciuto,

There should be a boomer bingo drinking game for usual complaints thrown around this place

If you want some attention, just ask

if no other club wants him I’d rather he plays the entire 2023 season in the sanfl..

he’ll absolutely dominate that level, help the sanfl side win games, provide a solid on field leader.. which will all help with the development of our youth…
Did you ever diet without throwing the Tim Tams out first. If they're in your cupboard, temptation always wins.

They'll pick Crouch if he's available. It's just a matter of time.

Odd story given he is contracted for 2023.

Unless the second year (2023) is KPI dependent.

Yeah - its an extremely weird thing to come out and say if he is contracted until the end of 2023.

It's another **** up on our PR team. The messaging is terrible.

A month ago Matt Crouch is required and when Nicks is quoted as saying "Matty is an important part of our squad". Then a month later Nicks meets with Crouch and tells him he is done.

I think Berry and Soligo dominating on the weekend helped make up their mind on Crouch. Love seeing young players entrench their spot.

The best contract offer for Rankine is from the Crows. It's now up to GC to get closer to it or a trade will be requested. Rankine not fussed either way - happy to stay, happy to go.
Sounds like the Betts trade to the crows. Ed was happy either way.

Or he's been told he won't get a game next year so he's better off seeking a trade now.

Why have that conversation about 2023 with a player contracted for next year when there are still 4 games to play in 2022?

Timing is extremely odd - especially considering Rowe, Hinge, Newchurch, Frampton and Himmelberg are all not signed for 2023.

Sounds like he's not going to play again this year with his quad and if the 2nd year of his contract depended on playing x games at AFL level in 2022 and he isn't going to meet that, then he'd be out of contract this year instead of next.

Stop with the boomer shit. It makes your posts less credible.

My memory as well.

They went looking for options and didn't get any interest. We thought there was no harm in seeing how he'd return (or if), if it was at a cut price.
