Blake Coleman has been very impressive this season at VFL not only does he kick goals but he’s tackling pressure is outstanding

IIRC all reports were that Blake was just as good a player as Kiddy in juniors.

Opens up the possibility of having both Coleman’s in the backline and moving starce into the midfield.

Food for thought

How ****in good is it to be a lions fan right now?

lock in #1 pick to a F/S selection and now possibly buddy?

pretty exciting. Big week

I believe he’s had an ok year, after a slow start due to health issues. I wouldn’t say he’s been very impressive the whole season.

Nor would I. He's shown a hell of a lot more this year than last despite health issues though which leads me to think he's got a nice upside if he can get his fitness up. That's the big question mark for me - can he get fit enough for AFL level footy.

Franklin to the lions would be a monumentally stupid decision for the club to make.

Right up there with Ronaldo heading back to Manchester United
Yes, I am with you there. Sounds great in theory getting such a big name but we'd be getting him on his last legs and I dont think he'd be a great fit or need personally. 3 key forwards isnt working as it is so I'd pass despite how exciting it also sounds.

Couldn't agree more.
Offense is functioning well.
Defence is drowning in Harris. Andrews lack of mobility and refusal to stay on his opponent instead of peeling off.
While we are on the subject of player issues :
Stop playing the following individuals as they can't kick:
Mathieson
Jarrod Berry ( the honeymoon is over, all heart no skill)
Madden ( don't bring back)
Mitch R ( a great servant but time is up)
Likewise Lyons. ( should have been first dropped)
Though i was certainly happy about Nakia getting the flick ( he is done)
Clarko in the hawks heyday first and foremost recruited guys that could kick regardless of their draft position or rookie status
Oh and for gods sake Fages leave Rayner on the ball.

Buddy's a real chance to wind up playing for a QLD club it now seems. On record it's always been his goal to move to either WA or QLD to be closer to his parents or parents in-law.
Michael Atkinson must receive his news from a man on horseback, I was basically all over the Buddy story here 3 weeks ago.

He is only up against KPDs, so Adams, Payne, Andrews and Gardiner. I think we at least need the depth in key position stocks. No surety that Payne makes it as a key defender just yet and I'm a tad worried about Gardiner's, Adams's longevity. + if some scuttlebutt around re Harris's knees are true we could be in real trouble.

I'm sure McStay will consider a paycut to play in defense now. Its not often you get a chance to play with Buddy and Ashcroft in 2023 and Buddy + 2 Ashcrofts in 2024.

I have always wondered what Hipwood would be like playing in defence. And I hope they try it out if the Buddy links are true, because that's the only way I can see Buddy working out here. Otherwise, we'll have the same structural problem as we currently do, having three key forwards who either don't ruck or don't ruck well, meaning we have a serious speed disadvantage if we want to play two rucks. And we won't have the grunt work that McStay puts in up the ground.

For mine, none of our key defenders have been impressive this year. Payne is still at the age where he can improve, and we know there's an AA level player within Harris who will hopefully re-emerge one day. But Adams is 29 and Gardiner is turning 27 in a month. We know what level they're ever going to reach, and while it's not bad, it isn't premiership-winning level. So I'd consider letting Gardiner go and trying out Hipwood in his place, and slowly phase in Payne for Adams. There's at least a chance of creating a powerful tall defence that way.

Hipwood played both defense and forward as a junior if I remember correctly. Its a very good option.

All the mainstream media outlets are running the story now but they are all using the initial channel 9 report as their source.

Very possible the whole thing is a beat up, maybe engineered by Buddy’s management.

I did wonder whether the likely source was from his management, especially because the club is a lot better at not leaking stories than previously.

Journo was pretty confident in the way he delivered it. Certainly sounds like whoever told him was insistent that it was happening. Having said that it certainly wouldn’t be the first and last time contract negotiations get played out in the media for extra dough.

Will probably have a rough idea if it’s bull* or not with the messaging of both clubs possibly even today.

Apparently Buddy and Jesinta are looking to put their Sydney property up for sale as well. Considering how fast the housing market is fluctuating currently, they might move on this quickly. At that point, it'll be a lot more clear.

Kiddy was saying the Blake has fallen back in love with the game this year, hopefully that allows for him to have a huge preseason!

I think Dev's gone, unfortunately.

Whats this based on? Just the fact he isn’t getting a game right now?

I think the club would be being really clear with him about his future with us.

I think the club would also be providing clear feed back to him about what is needed from him to get better.

I have heard he otherwise happy and is well settled in Brissy.

All the good sides have talent is the 2s that SHOULd be playing but can’t always get a game, sometimes they get poached, sometimes they stay.

He might get poached by a WA team, he might want to stay with us.

If one of the greatest players of all time comes to your door step you take him.
Low risk high reward.
For marketing reasons alone you take him. He’s still a gun. And I think it would excite the playing group as well. I know I would want to say I played with buddy Franklin.

Buddy should put out a Piastri style tweet that he won't be playing for a team on the East coast next year just to keep the speculation going.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Buddy, Daniher and Hipwood are all left footers.

At least Buddy can kick them from the left wing.
Mcstay is a left footer as well so no different Briz.

Fake News 100%.

Lol I don't believe that in the slightest.
Actually, it's totally believable. This is the time of year when agents are media leaking stuff to their media contacts to try and cajole the clubs into boosting contract offers.
