Yeah, as much as I love Darce, I'm not sure what we need.is a seemingly battered warhorse down back.

Darce does great work and stood with us - but given the choice, I'd like an injection of speed.

I hate to admit it, but his worst days almost have "honest toiler" written on them.

If we’re able to get the Bowes deal done we could potentially get all the points we need without compromising next years first. If we bring in Ashcroft, Dunkley, Bowes and Fletcher while keeping our first next year then our list management and trade team are one of the best in the business no question about it.

I heard any club that takes bowes will smooth what he owed out over a longer contract. Can’t imagine we can offered $800k a year next year on top of our other plans.

Think people think we have a lot less cap than we do. We would have maybe 500k free from McStay going. It was known last year we had money for another player, Dunkley coming in isn't anything extra or unexpected. We probably could afford to take his salary cap, and in the process open the door to a few different pick swaps with the dogs. Dogs would get their better pick, we end up with a net total better draft points to get Ashcroft. If we can essentially "buy" pick 7, that goes a long way to fixing the points problem, and probably helps us to retain a draft hand for next year.

Where exactly have these strong rumours been circulating? In your own head? Do you post so matter of fact in every clubs board or just here?

I only post here and really only recently discovered this board and these discussions. I am a St Kilda supporter (long suffering) but have been involved in QLD footy for decades, including the Lions/Bears and while many may disagree or whatever, I am pretty well connected with a few of the players, coaches and also folks with reasonable knowledge about what is happening in clubland in QLD as well, who often are well connected with the Lions.

So while I am a Saints supporter, I have an interest in QLD footy, like to see the Lions do well and especially like to see more QLDers on AFL lists, so have a very strong interest in both the Suns and Lions academies - though more insight and familiarity with the Lions

Happy to take the feedback that you guys aren't interested in what I have heard, so happy to tone that down.

I was 100% on Dunkley, you will soon see I'm right about Fletcher and I wouldn't be surprised if Rayner's name comes up (not via a journo, but a proper footy person). If you check my history, you will see my comments on Lester, McFayden and others and I imagine they will all be proven correct. I'm also the person that brought attention to the interest in Greene.

I'm unsure on the correct words to use - 'apparently' or 'rumours' but when I use these, its basically that I have heard from someone on the inside, or connected to someone on the inside that XYZ is the case. I can't just outright say who told me what, as I would breach their confidence.

Other examples of inside knowledge are that several of the VFL top ups have signed with Williamstown. The likes of Colenso, Triffit etc will be playing VFL against the Lions next year. Hardly groundbreaking news, but its not out there yet - but it will be in time. Think Lions will find it hard to sign mature age top ups in 2023 unless something changes in how they are treated.
