Nah, we dont need him gone. If you guys arent serious about bringing in a gun, thats OK too.

Your list management needs to offer a fair trade or it wont happen. Your future first could be 17 or 18, thats effectively a 2nd rounder. Gotta do better than that.
Things you need to realise:
  1. Posters on BigFooty telling other posters on BigFooty what needs to happen has zero effect on what happens in the real world.
  2. Waltzing on to other club boards during trade week and telling them "this is what will or needs to happen" usually doesn't end well, as you could have observed from your own mods' responses to the Lions supporters who were dumb enough to do it on the Dogs board.

The assertion that the price for other players is set by a single trade is amusing to me. Just coincidental that it was a fairly generous trade. You can bet if Richmond just gave up pick 19 for Taranto it wouldn't be such a convincing precedent.

I must admit, the inflated self worth it must take to come to an oppositions board just to "let them know what they said on their own board" is impressive.
There's always a few from every club who do this when they get the opportunity, with about the same reaction every time.

Can’t decide on what the best part of the Dunkley deal is. Is it great because we’re getting a gun player that absolutely fits a need? Or is it because we’re getting him for under market value because he’s OOC, has requested a trade twice now and has specifically chosen the Lions to come to? Or is it the absolute denial from the majority of Doggies fans thinking they have more leverage than they actually do?

The Dunkley deal will get done, we will get him in a trade that is probably less than he’s worth simply because a first and second is all we can offer and the Dogs would be silly to turn that down for the risk of getting nothing for him whether it’s this season or next. Threatening to risk him walking for nothing is the equal of threatening to use the PSD to get a gun player for free, won’t happen.

Oh yeah and we’ve got the number 1 pick coming to us as well, what isn’t there to love?

Weirdly enough we remember having similar discussions to convince ourselves of the 'true worth' of departing players during our most recent dark years ... and every time we were disappointed and most especially when they had nominated a club so we know your pain and we understand your framing of reality to meet your desperate needs but really that empathy will not translate into sympathy from us nor affect the behind the scenes machinations of our respective list management teams.

Btw wasn't it you guys who agreed to have a second round pick in the Aker trade and then turned around and did downgraded it on us much to the outrage here and delight on the doggies board?

Ive just said this on our board and its worth repeating here. Dunkley is our current BnF. And he is easily a better player than Taranto who was apparently worth a first and a second rounder. So thats the bench mark. And not future picks.

You guys have traded out from a position where we would want any of your current picks. We dont need him out, he wants to move north, we have 3 options if you guys cant/wont offer a reasonable return;
1. We shop him to GCS. They have trade currency which you dont and it still gets him to SE Queensland
2. We re-sign him for another year, then hes an UFA and can go wherever he wants
3. We force him to the PSD in response to you guys offering way under market value and GC not being interested, he gets snapped up by North (or West Coast) and ends up not in Queensland at a bottom end club

If you guys dont have picks at least at the Taranto value what players would you see us accepting who youd part with? Bear in mind our principle weakness is our defense. Id take Harris Andrews as a straight swap but cant think of any others.

Thoughts?
Two things really bug me about this.

Firstly, the suggestion to walk him to the PSD is just laughable. So you complain about potentially getting ‘unders’ and then get nothing for him just to shove it in the Lions face? Please.

Secondly, the suggestion that Andrews will be involved in this is almost as absurd as your PSD threat.

The deal will get done. Dunkley will be playing for the Lions in 2023 and beyond

How will the deal get done? And why should the dogs take unders?

The rationale for not taking unders and forcing him to the PSD is to show the rest of the competition that the dogs wont be pushed around in trading. Dodorro tried it 2 years ago, offered unders for Dunks and we said no. As I also said its our least preferred option. Preference is he goes to you for a fair price. 2nd option we keep him for another year. And if he wont sign for us and you guys wont be reasonable we force him to a destination he wants even less than us.

Lions fans on the dogs board were nasty, Im being sincere. And I wont be harassing any Lions mods with a barrage of PM's

I think the deal probably does get done.

BUT:
Just reported SEN (leading VIC sports radio station) that Bulldogs hierarchy met last night and are reportedly fuming about Lions trading pick 15. Also that they are seriously considering not proceeding with the trade.

Reported that Lions had floated the idea of pick 15 and 2023 1st, and wanting Dunkley with 2 picks around 30s back.
Bulldogs were reluctant on giving picks back.
Lions then proceed with trading pick 15.

Media do like to exaggerate the situation. But still, just a little bit concerning.

you can be sincere, however making ultimatums that this or that will happen is a bit OTP

Lol, have you checked out the Lions fans comments on our board?
And they got banned and days off for it. You haven't received that, so I'm not sure why you're comparing yourself to them.

Congratulations on clearing the bar of "this is why you haven't been banned yet". Usually that would be apparent by the fact you haven't been banned yet.

The warning is because inevitably posters don't react when their delusions are pointed out as being delusions and eventually either leave voluntarily or involuntarily. You're playing into that right now by doubling down with this whataboutism.

None of this is new. Happens every year, and then the trade gets done. Only rare exceptions are when the player is still in contract, which Dunkley isn't.

We'll probably end up paying something like our future first rounder and maybe pick 21 for Dunkley. I imagine we're relatively happy to offer that and are just trying to get a late second rounder back this year or something similar.

If previous trade periods are anything to go off, here's how this will play out:

Friday - Explosive story that the Bulldogs have walked away from the trade table and the trade is off
Saturday - Reports circulating that the Dogs believe they can talk Dunkley into staying
Sunday - A few media pieces (fed from Dogs people to columnists) about how unreasonable the Lions were
Monday - Some passive-aggressive statement from the Dogs that they have 'moved on' and are looking at other business now.
Tuesday - Wild speculation that another club could come into the picture for Dunkley.
Wednesday (throughout the day) - Reassurances that the deal is definitely off, and all parties are disappointed. Josh is reconsidering his next moves.
Wednesday (2 minutes to go) - The Lions and Dogs walk in to the trade office smiling, shake hands, and the deal is done.

It feels like an almost-choreographed pattern by now that seems to happen pretty much every year, and yet the vast majority of media/supporters fall for it time and time again.
