Delisted players cannot immediately be re-contracted by their clubs on rookie contracts as has happened previously and must instead go through the NAB AFL Rookie Draft on November 30 to achieve this.

When does the delisted free agency period start?

The likes of Jed Anderson, Martin Frederick and Quinton Narkle have two windows to find new clubs as free agents

That used to be the case - they added the change for the COVID years, so I guess it's just reversion to the prior setup.

There was a rumour around this year that he was looking to follow his younger brother back into cricket. However, he moved into defence in the second half of the year and was a bit of a revelation as an intercepting 3rd tall. The fact he's still on the list is suggestive to me that he might earn another year, albeit on the rookie list, to see if he keeps developing.

He seems to be batting above his average in his personal life

Sounds like there's gonna be a new podcasting opportunity for players coming up...

Jokes aside, it does sound like he takes his recovery and stuff very seriously. Should get along well with Lachie and co, and will be good for Will Ashcroft coming into the club to see what it takes (though he seems to be all over it). Sounds like he'll be starting pre-season with the younger guys too.

The Matho one isn't really news in my opinion. Hippy needs to be signed at the start of season 2023, preferably on a long term contract.

If I were Hipwood I’d wait until mid season. If he plays to his potential he could be looking at a mega deal based off what McStay got.

For us it’s be good to get him locked in on a long term deal before he reaches his final form.

The amusement was because Matho is a complete free agent, not a restricted candidate, because we delisted him and re-listed him to open up a list spot.

Hey what's going on with Connor Mcfayden, noticed he us still uncontracted , rated him in his draft year but going into year 4 without playing a game is pretty unusual

I hope he gets another year suffered an ACL and thought he showed some promise in a few of the VFL games I saw when playing back. Perhaps he gets downgraded to the rookie list. Also has anyone heard anything about Fullarton?

There was that one article written during/just before the trade period that suggested we'd be signing them on. Would not be surprised if they stay un-signed until after the National Draft so we can utilise those list spots for points.

I'm pretty sure they need to be properly removed from the list in order for us to replace them (temporarily) with draft picks, in which case we'd need to redraft them in one draft or another (or maybe sign them as DFAs, not sure if you can do that with your own ex-player).

Interesting trade. I wonder if the AFL suggested to us that we needed a future fourth round pick so we acquired one. Or maybe we only plan to take 5 picks to the draft? Another pick swap coming? Who knows...
