Interesting news out of Bribsane today about MacFayden, anything hear anyone?
OMG, what is the news with Bribsane Loins and Cooper MacFayden 🤯

Did you also hear about the news of Naika Cookatoo and Rayn Letser btw as well ;)

Could we potentially swap pick 36 and the future 4th we just traded for, for ports pick 33. For port it is essentially the same pick. They get the future 4th for nothing. For us the extra points.

I don't see any great benefit for the sake of 61 points? To lose a future pick for very little return remembering we may need points next year as well for our two KP players coming through the academy.

Posted this on the Hawks board, just a dumb hypothetical but does it work for you guys
  • Ashcroft doesn't get bid on at 1
  • Brisy trade 36 for 48+F3rd (44)
  • Ashcroft bid on at 2
  • Brisy Match, use picks 34, 35, 38, 48, 55 to match.
  • Brisy trade F3rd (44), F3rd (49), F3rd (52) for 47, 49, 61 (originally 50, 52, 65) which is 738 points and will match a bid from pick 20 for Fletcher.

Few issues are that we can't trade the FR3 back to you after you've traded it to us. Also, we can't trade out all of our FR3 picks as we need to (in theory), keep one in each round.

I think a more likely trade is we trade pick 36 for whatever will net us the most points.

You would still have a F3rd (53), that pick could be traded instead of returning our F3rd (44). Would weight the trade more in the lions favour as well.

Anyway it's not going to happen but it would be a nice win/win for both clubs I'd think. You guys would get Ashcroft, Fletcher and no deficit. We would strengthen our 2022 hand with a higher pick and our 2023 hand with more points.

Happy to take the feedback that you guys aren't interested in what I have heard, so happy to tone that down.

I was 100% on Dunkley, you will soon see I'm right about Fletcher and I wouldn't be surprised if Rayner's name comes up (not via a journo, but a proper footy person). If you check my history, you will see my comments on Lester, McFayden and others and I imagine they will all be proven correct. I'm also the person that brought attention to the interest in Greene.

I'm unsure on the correct words to use - 'apparently' or 'rumours' but when I use these, its basically that I have heard from someone on the inside, or connected to someone on the inside that XYZ is the case. I can't just outright say who told me what, as I would breach their confidence.

Other examples of inside knowledge are that several of the VFL top ups have signed with Williamstown. The likes of Colenso, Triffit etc will be playing VFL against the Lions next year. Hardly groundbreaking news, but its not out there yet - but it will be in time. Think Lions will find it hard to sign mature age top ups in 2023 unless something changes in how they are treated.

Dunkley :heavycheck:
McFayden :heavycheck: (keep an eye out for his cricket announcement)
Lester :heavymultiply: (got that wrong, though my mail was good)
Rayner :heavymultiply:
Colenso :heavycheck:
Triffitt :heavycheck:
Greene

Think my last point remains too, Lions will find it hard to get top ups. The ones that did it this year so disenfranchised that any other young bloke around would know all about it and be hard to convince.

Will be back to using academy kids I reckon, which might hurt the VFL team a bit.

Sounds like we already have a couple of very handy top ups lined up

Wonder if we can add to the Rayner and Dunkley combo and get Charlie’s brother over from WA, to add to the VFL list?

For someone you told us how well connected you were let’s be honest about it. Everybody knew Dunkley was coming as soon as he waiting to make an announcement, McFayden was 4 years on the list without getting a game- hardly a big call, completely wrong on Lester and Rayner, you also said we were interested in Patrick Dow and Collingwood would get Blake Coleman.

who is mcfayden

I reckon young Will will go #38 and take over the #10 when Richy hangs them up.

I do like the idea of him in #8 because we could essentially have our starting midfield from #5 to #9 apart from Oscar. He'd probably enjoy seeing how hard some of those guys work too.

C: Berry (#7) - McCluggage (#6) - Ashcroft (#8)
R: McInerney (#46) - Neale (#9) - Dunkley (#5)

"King has named the Lions, Power and Cats as the three teams who exited the trade period in much stronger positions than they entered."

“I think Brisbane did really well. They’re a club that don’t want for a lot so to get the extra midfielder in Josh Dunkley I think is a massive acquisition for them”.
