There are people who leave for what we deem are good and proper reasons and in the fullness of their time here (eg does anyone hold it against Joel Patfull, Luke Power going out or Mitch Robinson, Luke Hodge coming in) while others are seen as someone less loyal eg Lynch GCS->Tigers and some are almost pleased with the transfer eg Rockliff to Power and others are almost in the never to be forgiven camp eg Buckley.

** are we still allowed to use the phrase 'with gay abandon' btw?
buckley been bad juju ever since what he done did

Where is the Bailey asking for a trade nonsense coming from?
Seems disinterested as his apparent bestie (Mcstay) is leaving… complete and utter dribble. Yes Zac lived with Mcstay when he initially moved here (just as other recruits do)…. This doesn’t make them besties by any stretch of the imagination

A couple of genuine issues with your comments above.

First, we didn’t “persist” with McStay. We genuinely didn’t have any better KPP’s to play in his stead.

Secondly, Skinner was given every opportunity, unfortunately his acl’s kept letting him down.

Regardless of why, the club and the environment he was in, has allowed him an extremely long time to develop and has been far more generous With out put and expectations than other clubs would be or other forwards would get.

Run your eyes over his career stats and compare it to other forwards in the same bracket.

Doesen’t mean he owes us to stay, but to say ‘he has given us full service, he owes us NOTHING’ is also a stretch.

I think Dan himself would be the first to say the Brisbane Lions have given him every possible chance to devalop/available opportunity to reach his potential after 150 games.

Greetings Brisbane board.

I live in Brisbane so I watch a lot of Lions games. Gotta say... Dan McStay is about the least noticeable player on your team. Most weeks I couldn't tell you if he's out there or not is how I think of him.
I checked his stats and they are horrible. Under 10 possession, less than a goal a game 3rd tall.
You guys are a top 4 side so there has to be a reason he's playing. I assume he does a role. What is it? What am I missing?

He brought the ball to the ground for the little guys for a few years then a couple of years ago he became crucial for our structure and we couldn't win without him. Well that's what I read here.

Last year and for a few games this year he's started to look like he can play and influence a game , not that he does it all that often.

So you're getting a ready made gun .

Seriously...you guys can make a story out of nothing like the media sometimes. Dan & Zac are not close. Zac is going through a form slump at present and I am sure he will bounce back soon. Players have form slumps throughout their careers. Ordinary, Good & Exceptional players all have form slumps, it's nothing more complicated than that.
I never said I believed it. Just something doing the rounds.

If you look back I said I'd never trade him for the reasons you give.

But you must admit he's not playing with the zest he had earlier in the year. That's obvious. Perhaps he's unhappy with the way he's going.

He's the best tall pressure forward, who can do ruck - second tall - bring the ball to ground in the wing. Straightens up our forward line and gives a strong target to kick to. I'm thinking he should be commanding around 700-750k over 5 years.

im assuming you watched collingwoods game instead of brisbanes last saturday

id give it a watch, particularly the first half to see why mcstay is pretty highly rated internally. hes quite a versatile player and looked really good as a chop out ruck and a forward target. has quick hands, decent field kick, strong build - but his best quality is his contested marking

the most valuable trait he brings to our team is his contested mark down the line and hes quite good at it. its probably why his goal #'s arent necessarily that high - hes the one of hipwood / daniher / himself who works up the ground most often and is an enabler for our down the line territory footy gamestyle

he has a lot of good traits and i think collingwood will be glad to have him despite the fracas on your board about how much youre apparently offering

Seriously it's enough that we have oppo fans making up crap about our players without our own supporters making up crap. It doesn't take much for a silly little made up rumour to snowball out of control

Zac is just in a form slump or he's still feeling the ill effects of Covid
I've always found with rumours that there's part truth in there somewhere even if miniscule. If you're close to people at the club and you start hearing stuff it's probably 4 or 5 people along by the time it gets to you so it's either extrapolated to suit a narrative with everyone adding their little bit of mayo.

It's not just footy clubs , it's business ,life situations , scandals and the like . Separating truth from fiction is just too hard once it's out there.

More score involvements than our other forwards and given he isn't kicking many goes to show how many he sets up

Literally just made up by McIvor though, who is on a real hot streak of posting.

I don't think he made it up ,but perhaps someone else did.

It was just something he put out there .It's no big deal. Bailey's contracted till 24 ? Or is it '23 ?
24, same as Starcevich

It's nice to hear about his positives. The talk on our board is that we might be wanting to turn him into a key defender ala Roughead.

That's a lot to pay for a key defender, but he's always had a decent game back there. Was drafted as a defender and played there on and off for stints over the years.
